How Do I Create An Accordion?

Does anyone know how to create an accordion type of dropdown on Editor X? I have a site that’s pretty heavy with content and on mobile it’s just too much, so, I want to have an “accordion” or something similar that you can click which then reveals the content. Any other suggestions are great but this seems like the best option for UX.

Hey Shane - Great question. I’m going to ping the Product Expert for you.

Thanks Brett; Appreciate it. I’d sure love to know either how to achieve this or the best way to achieve it.

Hi @shane25224 ,

Currently, this is unsupported natively however if anyone has experience using Velo I would love to hear their thoughts on how they were able to implement this.

I understand the importance of this feature and will be forwarding your feedback to our product team. :slightly_smiling_face:

@randya Thanks Randy. Accordion-style dropdowns are really a cornerstone of UX design and I’m literally shocked that Wix does not have any thing for them. Wordpress has had this for over a decade. When you have a lot of content, it’s a UX nightmare for people on mobile to have to read it all, thus, we create a better experience with accordions or dropdown or tabs, etc. If there’s a way using Velo, I’d love to know but otherwise, this should be something that is native.

@shane25224 hi Shane, I will add this as a #featurerequest for editorx.

As far as creating this using Velo, @wingcc might be able to offer some insight!

@stevenjose It is something with Custom Element (a better way) or CSS code/ HTML code (bad idea if you simply want to add it with Wix dropdown). @salman-hammed has expertise in this advanced stuff [(https://www.salman2301.com/]((https://www.salman2301.com/) )

This appears to still be unsupported natively with a standard accordion like regular Wix has, so in case anyone needs help:

  1. Editor X help seems to want you to use Multi-state boxes. You would have State 1 be the title and button trigger and then State 2 include the answer. With multi-state boxes, keep in mind that you still need to code with Velo the transition between states, as far as I know.

  2. Some people have suggested the FAQs feature in X. This is really just a layout and does not have accordion functionality, so I don’t see how using it alone would help. You could use it in conjunction with multi-state boxes.

  3. Check out this forum answer: https://www.editorxcommunity.com/forum/general-discussions/how-can-i-add-an-accordion-section-to-my-editorx-site . OP provides tutorial for very basic coding to expand a collapsed box (where the answer hides).

Hope this helps! If you have better ideas, or if Editor X could just release the accordion, that’d be wonderful!

Thanks Ben! Yeah that does help a lot for sure. I do think however that some of these things that people have come to expect could be available.

Absolutely agreed! I can’t wait for Editor X to have all the same functionality as Wix.
