Question:
Hi there! I wonder if there a way to set a default description for each of my item in my collection that load automatically?
Product:
Wix editor : collection (CMS)
What are you trying to achieve:
I wanna make a default setting for my description in my item list, So I don’t have to copie/paste de description each time I create a new item in my collection.
What have you already tried:
I’m exploring the setting of the column description by adding the text I want as default in the “default valu” log.
Additional information:
I’m new with the wix editor and learning the curve of web design for my website for my tattoos! thank you for your help, it’s really helpful for a young tattoo artist trying to fit many hats hahahah
Hi, @Nicolann_Doucet !!
Hello, young tattoo artist!
Open your collection and hover over the “description” field. You’ll see an icon with three vertical dots — click on it. Then, choose the gear icon labeled “Settings” to open the field settings.
Once the settings panel opens, click the “Default Value” tab on the right.
There, you can enter a default value that will automatically appear every time you create a new item in your collection.
Thank you onemoretime! I did did that and it doesn’t appear on the preview website page. Like the information isn’t loading in. But when I go see the CMS, the default text is saved. Is there a step I missed, if you know for sure ?
Thank you so much !
OK.
It seems that the default values have been set successfully. Hmm, the issue you’re experiencing might be due to the difference between the sandbox collection and the live collection. I’m not sure if the sandbox collection still exists, but based on my last memory regarding this topic, sandbox collections are now disabled by default. So, if there’s a way to enable it again, you should be able to view test data even on the preview site.
In other words, I believe the reason you’re seeing this behavior on your site is because you’re only using the live (production) collection. I found a relevant link that might help, so please take a look at the resource below for more information.
