I have a horizontal menu that acts as a navigation bar and I just want to hide the login element when the person is already logged in and show them the profile element. Please help.

You cannot code a menu widget to modify it.
If your account already has the new Wix multi menu function where you can have different menu pages, then add a 2nd menu widget with the different pages. Then you can add code to hide or show the correct menu widget.
