How to make Strip (and Column) Elements responsive on iPad or Tablet?

Why is it that my Strip (and Column) Elements are not responsive on an iPad or Tablet? Why do they change their shape completely??

Below are Desktop and iPad samples of two “Strip & Column” elements that I have on a page (using WIX Editor.)

The first attachment shows the Desktop version. As you can see, both Strips are horizontal rectangles (just like all the other available “Strip” templates if you were to browse through them.)

DESKTOP :

The second attachment below is how it looks on an iPad. What happened!!?? :flushed:
Why is it not responsive? Why all of a sudden is it a square shape instead of a rectangle?? :anguished:

This makes the Columns within the Strips look vertically stretched… which makes the text box appear too tall and skinny, and also crops off images in an unflattering way… basically a hot, embarrassing mess. Whatever is going on with this width/height ratio needs to be corrected for an iPad/Tablet.
(And not just for Editor X users!!)

iPAD :

These Strips run throughout my whole website. These Strips were advertised to be responsive. I really NEED there to be an easy way to fix them in WIX Editor… or an easy way to transfer them into the new Editor X program so they can be fixed there.

HOWEVER…
*** I should not have to make a new website from scratch with Editor X just to fix these problems . ***

Can someone PLEASE help? I am begging. I would very grateful !!!

Hi,

This forum is specifically for questions about Corvid by Wix

Make sure you have stretched the strips.

If you already have these elements stretched and are having this issue please contact Wix Support .

Thanks!

Yes, all of my Strip elements are stretched.
I have contacted WIX support more than once about this issue, but no one can help me. They are actually the ones who suggested I post here to see if someone could help.

Still begging… please help!

Hi there! Unfortunately, Wix sites are not fully responsive. The only way to create a truly responsive site is through EditorX or another platform. There’s a lot you can do with the limitations, but there’s also a lot you cannot do.

The problem you’re running into is because when you set up columns, all necessary information should be within the dotted guidelines. Anything outside those guidelines will be cropped on smaller screens, which is why the strip “resizes” to a square. You can read more about the guidelines and how to work with them here .

What I do when building within columns is to create some extra padding around my elements so that when the columns squeeze in, there will still be some breathing room.

If you have necessary information throughout the image, I would recommend reformatting the placement so they are not the background of the column/strip, but rather a standard image element that sits on top of the column/strip within the guidelines. That way nothing will be cropped on smaller screens.

Thank you for your reply. I tried extra padding, but that creates way too much extra space when viewed on a large screen desktop. Also, using standard images would defeat my purpose for using Strips (and Columns) in the first place… to utilize their scroll effects:

I understand about the guidelines, but I do not see that as an excuse for the shape to suddenly turn into a square when viewed on an iPad/Tablet.

And again - I should not have to make a new website from scratch with Editor X to fix this problem. Especially since WIX originally claimed that the Strips were responsive.
(A rectangle changing to a square is not responsive.)

A DIFFERENT IDEA…

What if I duplicated the page, and adjusted the height of all the Strips to where they looked better on an iPad/Tablet, and named the pages accordingly.

Original Page url: “/doubletake-A” (designed for Desktop)
Duplicated Page url: “/doubletake-B” (re-designed for iPad/Tablet)

Then, is there a code I could add to redirect the viewer to the duplicated page whenever it is viewed on an iPad/Tablet?

For instance, a script function that will detect the device being used:
if device WindowWidth is 1024 pixels , then perform script to “/doubletake-B”

Is this possible??

Any solution on this? It would be impossible to have my whole website scrunched up like that on desktop…
