I teach at a high school and have used Wix extensively in my teaching. And, of course, for several of my own websites. Right now, it’s more of a source of general frustration. I want the option to completely turn off the annoying AI. I want the ability to create a new page with Dev Mode enabled right from the start.
If you’re in the Studio Editor, there is a real blank-page path that skips any AI step: click Pages on the left, then + Add New Page at the bottom, then pick “Page” (a plain blank page, no wizard) instead of a template. That’s the whole flow, nothing AI-generated gets inserted.
On Dev Mode specifically, it isn’t something you turn on per page, it’s a site-wide toggle (Dev Mode button at the top of the editor). Turn it on once and every page you create afterward already has it available, so you shouldn’t need to fight the AI flow just to get Velo access.
Where I don’t have a real answer for you is a full off switch for the assistant/chat bot itself. I looked for one before replying and couldn’t find a setting that disables it entirely, closing it each session seems to be the only option right now. Worth filing that as a direct feature request with Wix support since you’re clearly not the only one who wants it gone.
