Hey everyone. I’m a new Wix partner at the Pioneer level and I’m working my way up to the creator level. I’m pushing myself through Academy X, and after looking at some really great designer websites, I finally put mine together. I feel like it could use some finishing touches, but please feel free to rip through it with some feedback. I can take it. LoL. www.grantwilliamsmarketing.com
I have two active client accounts right now which is fine, but I’d REALLY love to not have to drive Uber anymore if any wix veterans out there have some work for me. I’m here for it, and you don’t have to pay me much. I’m just learning the ropes. Thank you!
Hi, congrats. I agree there are a few tweaks you could do to your website. Here are my recommendations:
Your photo has you looking off the page and showing very little of your face. The point of a photo is to add a visual that makes someone feel comfortable. But if you are looking away, they don’t get to see your eyes. They see your cheek. Also, any time you have any photo in marketing material you have the direction going in and not out. If you are around someone and they start looking off to the side, the natural inclination is to look in the same direction they are looking. So if it’s not looking straight, have your eyes looking into the webpage, not off of it.
There’s a thin line where elements are not vertically flush.
I like that you have a paragraph about your client. But if it was a website, it’s more interesting to have a thumbnail of the website home page.
The pricing text in italics feels odd. Italics in general is not ideal on websites because they are harder to read. But it also gives a handwritten feel. If it was a discount, the italics might make sense. But the regular price, italics don’t feel right, to me.
Mine is not perfect. I have some updates I need to do. But maybe you can get some ideas: https://www.tidcom.net/
Thank you Tina. This feedback is fantastic. I’m basically pivoting my digital marketing career into a web design focus, so it’s a hard climb up a learning curve for me, so I’ll take any help I can get. I’m designing some templates that are my own creation that I hope to get up on my site this week. Your work is fantastic, btw. My only feedback is that you’re worth more than $35 per hour.
Thanks. Yes, maybe I’m worth more than that. However, I have other requirements for who I will accept that’s more important than money. I like working for the start-ups and the very small businesses: The plumber, the dog rescue, etc. They can’t afford high amounts.
And, once they choose me for website design, I end up doing other work for them: design a brochure, social media management, etc. So it reduces the cost of getting new clients.
I think your site needs a bit more work. Here is my feedback.
Top Banner Section:
This section is confusing to me. It’s a large image of you with a small bit of text and no call to action. Every website needs to have a goal. If the goal here is to drive clients to your web request form, you need more than a small bit of text at the top right of the screen to push them there.
Web Design Process
This section needs quite a bit of work. Firstly, its visible before you scroll which wouldn’t be a problem but 2 of your 4 boxes go from no background to a color background on scroll. Unless you scroll, that text is impossible to read.
Another issue is none of it is spaced properly. Some of the box’s content are center-aligned while others are slightly off or right-aligned.
Website Packages:
The main issue here is the contact me box doesn’t have any sort of link or button for someone to actually contact you.
Sections Headings:
It looks like you tried to center align these. but they are slightly off
Mobile:
Your mobile version has some alignment issues with the Website Packages section
Here is my site for reference. https://sugarfreedesigns.com . Keep in mind, you are marketing yourself as a freelancer and I am marketing as a full company so there will be a major difference with that.
