Hi everyone, I have been having some issues with hero images and loading times. Our website is currently lagging when loading hero images on our webpages. The image appears blurry for about 5-8 seconds before loading properly. We are currently using Wix Studio and have tried a handful of solutions including compressing the image sizes, switching the images to different file formats, implementing and then removing lazy loading, etc. Has anyone figured out what the root of this loading issue could be? Appreciate any help!
What is the file size and resolution of image? You can scale it down. Also, convert image format to .webp format before using - JPG to WEBP | CloudConvert
I also recommend using Squoosh for compression! You can find it at squoosh.
The blurriness seems like it could be a normal response to lazy loading.
Hi , @Mira_Dwyer
Slow image loading in your website is usually caused by heavy image size, above-the-fold weight, or third-party scripts.
Here are the main things to check when images are loading very slowly in Wix Studio :
Image size & format :Upload images at the correct display size (2X for retina). Prefer JPG/WEBP for photos; use PNG only when transparency is required.
Above-the-fold weight : Large images or multiple visuals at the top of the page delay initial load; keep the first screen lightweight.
Background images : Full-width background images load slower than regular image elements; avoid using them excessively.
Third-party apps & scripts :Chat widgets, analytics, or embeds can block image loading.
Performance checks : Use PageSpeed Insights to identify LCP issues and pinpoint slow-loading images.
Alternatively , If you’ve already optimized image dimensions and formats and still experience slow image loading(, Image Optimizer Pro | Wix App Market | Wix.com ) can help by automatically compressing and optimizing images and videos reduce asset size and improve load times, without affecting your layout or visual quality.
