Question:
Is Anyone Already Using AVIF Images on Wix ?

Product:
Wix Editor and Wix Studio Editor

What have you already tried:
I’ve confirmed that AVIF images can be uploaded to Wix’s Media Manager and added to a page.

Additional information:
It seems that AVIF images are now available for use on Wix. However, after checking Wix’s official references, I couldn’t find any articles reporting that Wix officially supports AVIF images. Is it okay to start actively using AVIF images now? :thinking:
AVIF images have significantly better compression efficiency than WebP while offering higher image quality, so I’m eager to start using them right away… :melting_face:

Try adding one then check the source files to see what you find. It most likely converts it to webp. But who knows.

OK … I pasted it on the page, then checked it by right-clicking on the live site and selecting ‘Copy image address’ or ‘Save as.’ At least based on my experiment, it seems that the file remains in .avif format. I believe this used to be converted to WebP, so this might indicate that Wix now evaluates AVIF as fully surpassing WebP. Personally, I’m happy with this result. :smiley:
