Question:
Is Wix Editor going to eventually lose support?
Product:
[Which editor or feature is your question most relevant to? e.g. Wix Editor, Wix Studio Editor.]
What are you trying to achieve:
As a 13-15 year user of Wix its disappoint to see Wix going in the direction of complex editors like their competitors. I am trying to determine whether or not I should switch to a simpler platform as I don’t see updates or new templates coming to the regular Wix Editor anymore.
What have you already tried:
I’ve tried to adjust to Wix Studio but I can’t change colors, properly input images and more without contacting support or watching tutorials.
Additional information:
Wix got its popularity from the simplicity of designing a website and making this simple editors produce what seems to be complex sites but really its the easiest thing to do. Now I am concerned Wix Editor will no longer receive updates or cool new features like Studio. I need to switch platforms if this is the case.
Hi, Willard_Jenkins !!
This topic has been discussed multiple times on this forum, and the current official response from Wix is that “the Wix Editor will not be discontinued.” I understand your concerns about the introduction of Wix Studio—I felt the same way at one point.
However, looking at it from a broader perspective, it becomes clear that the Wix Editor is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
From a business standpoint, Wix aims to maximize its overall profits, and providing editors that cater to all types of users aligns with that goal. As evidenced by your participation in this forum, you are one of many users who feel unsettled by the increasing complexity of Wix. Losing customers like you would represent a significant loss for Wix.
It’s similar to the automotive industry: not everyone drives luxury sports cars or Formula 1 vehicles. Car manufacturers cater to the needs of people who prefer small, practical cars for everyday use by offering a variety of options. I believe Wix follows the same principle by striving to create editors that are as user-friendly as possible to retain a larger customer base. If they fail to do so, they risk losing users like you who are considering leaving Wix.
While it’s possible that Wix Studio could evolve into an incredibly user-friendly tool with the help of AI, the standard Wix Editor is still unlikely to disappear. Websites created using the Wix Editor number in the countless millions worldwide, and discontinuing the editor that supports them would undoubtedly provoke significant backlash.
Automakers utilize the advanced technologies developed through F1 racing in mass-market vehicles like compact cars to create high-quality products. Similarly, Wix is likely to incorporate the technologies cultivated in Wix Studio into the standard Wix Editor, allowing both editors to continue evolving and improving.
Many Wix users prioritize simplicity, which is likely why Wix created Wix Studio as a separate tool to meet the demands of agencies and power users seeking to build more complex and feature-rich websites. Still, the majority of users seem to value simplicity above all else.
If you were the CEO of Wix, what would you do?
