I am pretty new to Wix, but have jumped in with both feet, seeing if we can move our site to it.
I have been slowly building up knowledge on the Wix Enviro and build a site via the free site plan.
Our hope is the get to a point where we can switch over to a premium plan once we have everything in place and a full understanding of what to expect.
This also includes updating our iOS App and completely writing from scratch an Android App.
We are a licensed music radio station, and stream music including live DJ sessions 247.
Because of this we HAVE to use the Wix Editor. Due to it handling of page reloads.
I am constantly seeing peoples questions answered with, âthis would be easier to do in Wix Studioâ, or âyou can do this in Wix Studioâ, âWix Editor is limitedâ. I under stand that Wix Editor is new with all the bells and whistles on and at multi managed site builders.
So,
Are we wasting our time.
Will Wix Editor ever catch up or will it be left to stagnate and die.
It seems that Wix Editor is so far behind in its abilities that it will never catch up, and I wonder if that is he intent to force every one to Studio. I mean why manage two IDEs.
What is the future of Wix Editor?.
Will it get new features like Css Classes and layout management ?
Or is it going to be strung along for a few years and then depreciated, if so then I feel there is no point use moving to Wix.
We can never move to Wix Studio with it current handling of page loads.
Wix Studio is 1 yr old.
Wix ADI (automatic design intelligence) was depricated after 3-4 years.
Wix Editor X was shut down after 3 years and was replaced by Wix Studio.
Wix Editor is the original editor.
Wix will never publicly say what their plans are for any editor, any product or any app. But in reality any app builder, web builder or literally any product you dedicate for your business has the same risk. One day it can be here, and one day it may not.
I donât understand the hype about Wix Studio if it has less features than Wix Editor, too clunky and inefficient to build on. There are other responsive editors out there that have existed far longer and do way better job.
The designers pushing the Studio brand make money from keeping people active on Studio. So they try to convince people to join Studio whether they need it or not.
Wix is like any business. They like money, they need money. So they will continue to make more products and more features to get more money.
I think the concerns youâre feeling are common among Wix users. The real answer is that no one can truly know unless we time-leap 30 years into the future. However, someone from Wixâs official team on this forum has stated that the Wix Editor is not going anywhere, so we can be at least half-optimistic about its future. That said, the other half remains uncertain even for Wix itself.
Even if Wix doesnât intend to replace it, external factors in the world around it could force changes, as the IT world evolves rapidly, and nothing can be guaranteed. However, if the current editor were to be phased out, it likely wouldnât happen immediately. The majority of Wix websites currently in operation are built with the standard Wix Editor, and making them unusable all at once would provoke immense backlash from customers, making such a decision difficult for the company.
Not all users demand cutting-edge features. For most, the priority lies in âease of use, stable operation, and cost efficiencyâ rather than responsive capabilities or scroll animations. Personally, I believe that the standard Wix Editor, with its primary feature of being âeasy for anyone to use,â will continue to evolve and remain relevant for some time.
This evolution might differ from the direction Wix Studio takes. Advanced features will likely first be implemented in Wix Studio, and successful ones may eventually find their way into the standard editor. Ultimately, tools that endure are those that are user-friendly. This principle must apply not just to Wixâs editor but to Wix as a whole. Otherwise, the issue wonât be about the editorâs longevity but Wixâs very survival as a platform.
I genuinely hope that Wix continues to refine its standard editor to provide the stability and ease of use that attract light users, ensuring it remains a reliable tool for years to come. In todayâs competitive landscape, where similar services abound, losing customer trust even once could be the end.
Thanks @onemoretime , for taking the time to write that up.
I think you are on point with pretty much with every thing you mention.
And although I would not class my self a light user even though I am constrained to using Wix Editor, one has hope that it will remain and evolve. ( apart from single page loading
architecture , which must never ever change are I am doooomed . I know I kid here but its true. )
