I would like to be able to change the wording to make it more appropriate for Videos.
What have you already tried:
I have searched the web and it says that it cannot be customized. But surely there must be a way …

Wix apps and widgets cannot be customized further than what their settings allow.
What you could do is make all posts public and write code to expand custom message , collapse post if not paid subscriber, etc.
You could use custom code to show a different message for videos or add an overlay to hide content until users subscribe.
Currently, Wix Studio doesn’t allow direct customization of the default paywall message, but you can work around this by creating a custom lightbox or popup in the Editor to replace the default message, setting up dynamic pages to display a tailored message for non-subscribers, or using Wix Velo to add custom code that detects user status and shows a more appropriate message for videos.
