Need help for creating an user content (read & write) for my online learning page

I follow a “How to Collect & Display User-Generated Content on Your Website” tutorial but I’m stuck. I wanna create a notebox (user-input paragraph) that my student can type-in and fix their note whatever they need.
Do I need to separate it in two user-input (one read, one write) like a tutorial video? I wanna keep it in one box only.
