[Ongoing project] Creating a news site in Wix Code

I am a news addict so I thought of creating a large Wix site built in Wix Code with connections to news api around the world and auto filling data collections with data. Also to present the latest news on top, different repeaters for different ages on the news and so on. This will be a huge projects and if you want to tag along subscribe to wixshow and you will get weekly posts on the progress and learn all about it.

This is the Swedish original news site I will have as a sample when starting to code everything and the Wix site will look as identical as this as possible. This will be so much fun.

It will be a lot of code, a lot of different coding skills used and API communications, auto cleaning the data collections and also auto categorizing the news in the final version. I am now in the works of making all the elements needed and all the code needed to get all the news. It will handle around 200 news article per day in the final version and work both on mobile, tablet and desktop in a nice way.

I will publish the site as a show case for Wix Code capabilities and I am also thinking of letting you all get your hands on all source code and maybe the whole site it self to learn from.

Working with offsets in the repeaters is impossible, this is the reason you have to code the repeaters and can not use the built in sorting / filters. They don’t have offset support. By offset I mean that I don’t want the same news item to be present in three different places when inserted into the database.

Also we need some trimming with texts like headlines and descriptions and also be able to expand elements when text is to large for one item. I will keep posting my progress here.

Any updates? Looking to add an easy way for a ‘News’ tab on my website. Is it best to create as a blog? Only looking to add a few articles a week. Thanks in advance for any advice!

My requirement is also similar.Want to fetch news from multiple sites and display in my website. As it is possible, please provide me limitations or challenges present. What features in wix i need to accomplish.
