really missing an event handler that fires when the user resizes the browser-window. I did a workarround with timers and checking the size of the window, but an event handler would be much better and less costly to performance.

Agreed. Probably should warn new to the platform how limited WixCode is.
Something like “hey, this is super limited, we don’t even let you use your own custom CSS. Proceed with limited expectations and keep your patient hat on as we do what we do.”
Wix is the perfect platform for certain clients of mine. But I need to be able to have control over things that don’t work the way we need them to.
