I had a very good video meeting with one of the Wix Developers for the Paid Plans feature. The focus was on coupons, their function, and how the site builders and users would most likely implement them into their sites. and what purposes these coupons would likely serve.
We talked for about an hour and i also was able to share some of the other much needed features of the paid plans app. Discounts, trial periods, redirects, custom payment pages, ability to use custom sign up pages instead of the Wix default, etc.
He did share some insights as to why some of these features can take so long to build and why some things may not be able to be done at all (he wouldn’t specify which was which however).
The biggest issue Wix has, (imho), in the development teams is that they are very compartmentalized and only work on their one area. So things that require coding from the payments development team and the app/feature has to get bounced back and forth between departments. Some things have limitations simply due to the payment processors.
All in all i feel it was a good meeting and it was refreshing to see Wix directly interact with a site owner to get input on a feature and how we would like to be able to use the features.
This developer contacted me based on this Post actually. So it is something to take away from this is that Wix actually does listen, and while it may take more time than we may have they are working on improvements. Also if an app or feature is not available that you would like to see, REQUEST IT!
I know first hand how frustrating the Paid Plans feature is, it is really pushing me to the limit and i am pushing wix code to the limit with it, I have even had to hire a coder to help me.
Paid Plans honestly could be a huge driving force for Wix, as other than Wordpress, there are NO other website services that have this as a feature. Trust me I have looked as it is a cornerstone to my sites development. I really wish Wix would put a more serious priority on this feature and really expand it to its full potential. It really would be a marketing game changer for Wix.
