It seems that currently this feature is only a request, but I was wondering if there are any quality work arounds or code that could help me accomplish either this or something similar to it. I simply need my customers to upload an image before they are able to add a product to their cart (very similar to the product’s “custom text” field). I love Wix and this doesn’t seem like too complicated of a task, but through days of research I am coming up with nothing and am afraid that I will have to stop using Wix and go with something else.
I can place an upload button on the product page, but can not make it required or make the specific upload follow the specific item that was added to the cart
I can create a lightbox that contains a required upload form that pops up when a button on the product page is clicked, but again I can’t make that button required or make that information follow a specific item.
This feature is crucial to my business model and any and all help is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!
Hi Philip,
Upload image button has a setting “Required field” just mark it and user won’t be able to submit the form without uploading the image.
Let me know if that helps.
Gediminas,
First off, thanks for you help! Secondly, I am aware of the “Required Field” setting on the upload button, however, I don’t think this solves my problem. If simply adding an upload button (making it required) and adding a submit button this only makes adding the photo required if the customer wants to hit the submit button. However, the customer can still choose their sizes and colors and click “add to cart” and add the item to the cart without submitting a file. The product page basically acts as its own entity. Also I don’t know how to make the uploaded file follow the particular item being put in the cart which creates more problems.
I think you are using Wix Stores and want to customize its flow with Wix Code, is that correct?
If yes, unfortunately Wix Stores is not accessible through any API yet.
Yes, that is correct. I should have probably mentioned that in my original post. I basically was just asking this forum if anyone could think of any work arounds to accomplish my goal of “requiring a customer to submit a file before adding an item to their cart”. Thanks again for your response Gediminas!
I have the same problem, but I think I might have a workaround, but it’s not the best. You could instruct your site visitors to use a service like WeTransfer to upload their files and then copy and paste the download link into the Wix store product page custom text box. This would ensure the uploaded files follow along with the site visitors purchase. The real challenge then becomes how to clearly instruct your site visitors to use WeTransfer and then copy and paste the link.
Looking for the same thing… it is sooooo important for all custom products ! If I cannot come around this problem the page is useless
Wix must fix this problem! I’m thinking of moving elsewhere…
Me too Rachel. Having to figure out too many workarounds.
