I really like the way the Wix Events app looks and would like to use it for all the events for my church. The only issue is that I don’t always need people to register for every event. It would be nice to be able to remove the “register” button for certain events. This way all my events will look cohesive in the Wix Events app without causing confusion as to whether someone has to register or not. Thanks!
Hi Andrew, I’m happy to let you know that in the near future we will allow you to hide the RSVP button via the app.
But, the great news is that you can actually do it yourself today, using Wix Code. You can create your own Event Details Page, and you can simply not place a button on the page.
Here’s a great article that can help you learn more - CMS: Creating a Custom Event Details Page | Help Center | Wix.com.
I appreciate it. I’m not familiar with coding, but I’ll give it a try. Thanks!
@andrew13613 It’s actually more like “data” - you don’t need to actually use code, just bind elements. Give it a go and feel free to ask any more questions!
I tried the “Hide RSVP button”, and it works great with one exception. It appears to apply to ALL events. I have some events that support online registration and some that do not. Is there a way to hide the RSVP button on an event by event basis? I’m hoping the ability is there, but I am just missing how to do it! Thank you.
Hi! Since the event page is dynamic, the change will apply to all of your events. You can easily solve it by adding another events widget to your page, and select manually which events you’d like to show where (i.e one widget that shows online events and the other physical location events). Then in the app settings, you can hide the RSVP button only in the widget that contains the events you don’t need signing up for. Hope this helps
Great idea! I will give it a try. Thanks for getting back to me!
This looks to be the best option, but can’t actually get this working. The ‘second’ app seem to use the same settings as the first one…
I will look into it this week and get back with an update
Thank you very much for the quick responses. I also tried it without success: I created a brand new page and added a “multiple event” to the page. I turned “RSVP” on and then tested. It added the Register button to ALL my event pages, not just the new one. Is there some trick to adding a NEW event widget versus adding it using the ADD button and selecting a format?
Again, thank you very much for your help. I’m new to this, but in general, am very excited about the ease of use of Wix and its flexibility. Have a great weekend, and I’ll look for your response next week.
@riggan @jimtedavid happy to be of help
I do apologize, I seem to have misled you, since our event pages are dynamic, the settings for them will not differ, as opposed to our widget which may have different settings (“i.e. event list”).
So to conclude, for the moment if you hide the RSVP button in the event details page, it will be hidden on ALL pages. We will look into this further, and I will get back to you with a possible solution as soon as I can. Have a great weekend!
@tal-gonenne Thanks for your prompt response and correction. It is pretty annoying so I’m glad you will look in to this further
In the settings for each event, there is an Open / Close option for Registration of the event. How easy is it to add a third option for “Not Required” to hide the Registration button? This will satisfy all the above requests
That’s a nice suggestion, but we are working on a different solution
Good to know you are working on something, Tal! In the meantime, we have developed a workaround. We are using separate pages for the Register events and the events that don’t need registration. I manually create the pages for the non-Register events to look like the Events pages, but without the Register button. We can copy and paste a non-Register event to the bottom of the list when we need to add new classes. Not ideal, and a pain in the backside to maintain, but it will work until you come up with a solution that allows us to have all our events on the same page and managed by Events. I hope it comes sooner rather than later!
@tal-gonenne Thanks Tal, please update us once the solution is ready. There is so much to learn even in the ADI mode!
I’m hoping to avoid the solution Riggan had to create for our event management. Are there any immediate plans to open up the Wix Events API for creating events?
Also, in the meantime, can the ticket options be added as a field in the database? That would allow us to create a better dynamic page for events for the meantime. @tal-gonenne .
Hi,
I look for the option to remove the RSVP button for some events as well.
When I use two event widgets, the first with “RSVP on” and the other one with “RSVP off” can all events be displayed at the same place on my website? Or are there compulsorily two event calenders because of the two event widges on the website?
6 months waiting for this to be done… this is really annoying. All the functionality for the events app goes to the trash without an option to hide the register button… How is it possible that in 6 months nothing has been done about this… it seems sooo simple for expert coders… just add a button “Not Required” to hide the Registration button like " Hock Hin Lee " said a few posts back…
Hi there…I’m not sure what you are referring to, because you can hide the RSVP button easily from your event details page - https://support.wix.com/en/article/hiding-the-rsvp-button-from-the-events-details-page-in-wix-events
Regarding the issue that our event pages are dynamic, and the suggested solution to allow to hide the RSVP button per event, it is more complicated that simply adding a “not required” button in the registration dashboard. We are doing our best to accommodate the needs of our users, and I am hearing you out, so rest assured we will figure out an appropriate solution for separating our dynamic pages.
