I am the editor of the Bay State Model Railroad Museum and we are investigating how we might organize and make searchable a very large catalog of historical photos taken of railroads. This collection will be scanned from thousands of slides in our archive. We already maintain a site using WIX and have uploaded some images of our model train exhibits to various image galleries on our site.
For this new project we would like to scan the slides and mark them with image tags in their metadata. Some tags would be generic, such as who was the photographer, date captured, location, copyright etc. But we would also like to add very specific tags for our purpose (e.g. Railroad name, locomotive model, locomotive number, etc.) We would like to allow visitors to our site to search for, say all the photos in the archive of a particular locomotive model and number or all the photos in the archive for a particular railroad.
Would it be possible to add code to our site to allow for this or is there already WIX app for this? Essentially we would like to create an image gallery which would be searchable. The website visitor might see come GUI elements such as this to specify search criteria:
Then press a button to display a gallery of all the images in the catalog that match.
I understand that the above might be quite an undertaking. If that is impossible or a great deal of effort, just being able to search the keywords of the files (Railroad name) for all the pictures that match that keyword would be very helpful. The keywords would be metadata tags in each of the images.
