[SEO] International B2B websites vs B2C websites: how to manage

Context:
I have multiples e-commerce B2C websites on a specific e-commerce platform (not Wix), in “www.” subdomain:

  • .fr (french market, french language)
  • .com (european market, english language)
  • .de (german market, german language)

I also have a B2B website (non e-commerce), planned to be migrated to Wix:

And, within a few months, I will have to add an english version of the B2B website to the Wix platform. Then, I guess I will have an italian and a spanish version (and maybe a german).

Question:
Regarding my organization and the fact that we want all the B2B websites to be made with Wix, is it possible to have the following organization with link rel=“alternate” hreflang managed by Wix:

  • pro.mysite.fr
  • And then 4 other websites with .com, .it, .es, .de domain extensions instead of .fr.

How am I supposed to manage this in Wix:

  • which Wix functionnality to use for this need?
  • is there a good support on this?
  • what is the difficulty level of this implementation?
  • are these things automated, or do I have to manage some or all of them by hand?

Thank you.
Guillaume

Hi,
Is anyone able to help me on that case?
Thank you.

Hey Guillaume,

Wix does let you have your website in various languages, and the tool you can use for that is Wix Multilingual.

However, the way Wix Multilingual works is that it does not use different TLDs for various languages, but instead creates branches for your site’s various languages, just like Apple’s website.

So for example, www.apple.com is the default (US English) version. And www.apple.com/fr is the French version. /it is Italian, /de is German… and so on.

So you don’t need to host your site on 4 different domain extensions, your main site should be good enough. However if you still want to host it on different extensions for some reason, I believe you can use domain pointing and redirect traffic on pro.mysite.fr to pro.mystie.com/fr but again if the domain is purchased through Wix, I don’t think there is a way to link it to a specific page or branch.

Nevertheless, I’d suggest you contact Wix Support and get their expert advice on this (:
