Hello!
I would like some suggestions on whether I should use the Wix Blog or CMS collections when handling news articles for my client.
As I interpret it, it’s very limited to design the blog cards the way I want. I can only use the ready-made design options that are available to me in the widget.
However, if I instead design the cards as I want through a repeater, and then link the content in the card such as cover image, headline, and text to a CMS collection, then I can design it however I want and adjust the fields in the CMS to make it easy for my client to write new articles and news.
So, my question is if there are any disadvantages to using the CMS, rather than using Wix Blog to manage news and articles?

Hi, I’m wondering the same. Maybe you wouldn’t be able to schedule posts?

Nobody? Trying to find an answer to this topic as well. While you can much better design news posts, the app and website is directed towards blog posts entirely. If you want to add news through app, it’s easy to blog but near impossible to find the CMS set of news…
Do I live with crappy blog look (doesn’t even show the year in the date!) or make it hard on client to post….

I chose CMS with media gallery, rich content, visibility control (yes, it’s possible to schedule), but now I can’t customize the search results to hide the image in front of text, for example, because I used media gallery, and not a single image. It seems that the search on the site is made for blogging.
If anyone knows a good alternative to site search, I would appreciate it.

Following. Has anyone used wix CMS exclusively (without blogs) to create a dynamic newspaper site? I’m wondering about two things: specifically, workflow, i.e. can a reporter add a story, which would then trigger notification to copy editor, then editor before releasing it to live site? And can the “final” versions of stories be scheduled?
And 2. Does site-wide search work across multiple collections?

Hey,
You should use blog.
Actually you can attach blog content as CMS to your repeaters.
So, you can design as you want and connect it to blog CMS.

If you are not sure, how to do this.
Then go to your wix studio account, go to “CMS”
there must be a option “Wix app collections”, enable it.
And now you will see blog content as CMS collection.
