Showing a Wix website in webview

Hello Everyone. Im Hoping that i will be able to get an answer here.
I finished creating my wix website and now that its live i thought about wrapping it in an app so it will be available in Google Play.

At first i tried to find a wix app to do this, but after the only app that supported what i wanted is currently off wix stores i have began a tiresome quest for what in my mind was a very simple idea.

So basically all i want is something similar to what every “light” app does and is to open my website in mobile webview with responsive width and height.

After lots and lots of googling i just couldnt make the website show in full width. And the result i got was my website with grey bars in the corners. even when i flip my phone the width of the website stays the same, as if something is limiting the width from expending.

(pictures attached)

when i try to open different websites, they open on full screen. and their width IS responsive.
After searching google i found this post on wix support:
Wix Editor: Viewport Configuration for Mobile Devices | Help Center | Wix.com.

from my understanding they limit the website width which can explain why the width is not resizing at all.

Since i cant access the webview meta tag on wix website i am trying to find another solution.
Can anyone think of something?

btw, gonative.io give the same service of wrapping web to app with FULL width support. so there is some kind of magic that can be done here without changing a single line of code on wix website.

Any help on the matter would be super helpful as its really disappointing that wix website is responsive on mobile browsers but is not responsive if you try to wrap it as an app for mobile.

Same happens if you change orientation of the phone, the height is responsive but the width is not.

Hi Nathan and thank you for posting in Wix Code support forums.

Please note that embedding a Wix site is not related to Wix Code api.
More information regarding embedding Wix site can be found here .
For any further information regarding this matter feel free to contact Wix support

Hi, thank you for the quick reply.
Im not embedding my Wix website in another website.
All i want is to open my website in mobile webview. Just as i would open in in Chrome App on my phone.
Similar to all of those “Ultra Fast Facebook” apps on google play that just open the mobile version of the website.

What im experiencing is a limit in the width view due to wix viewport configuration.
Since i cant currently edit my Wix website CSS i am looking for a workaround to this problem.

Hi Nathan,

Currently, the only option is using the Wix mobile app . Moreover, there’s no option to edit the CSS of your site. For further suggestions or questions regarding this app, please contact Wix support team .

Have a good day,
Tal.

Hi Tal, I think there is a misunderstanding to what i am looking to do.
The Wix Mobile App gives me the ability to manage my store but its not what im looking for.
And i know there is currently no option to edit the CSS hence this post.

I want to make an Android Web to App. All i want to know is how to configure my CSS webview so my wix Website will have responsive Width, as it currently only has responsive height. (As Shown by the screenshots from the original post)

For Example:
in my html i have iframe which opens a url=“mywebsite.com
in my CSS i have a Configured a Class
{ display: flex;
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
flex-direction: column;
background-color: #98ABB1;
overflow: hidden;
}

Hi,
Since there’s no option to access the CSS files of your site, there’s no option to configure your CSS web view. The only option is by editing your mobile view using the mobile editor .

Best,
Tal.

Hi Nathan,
Did you finally find a way of doing?
Thanks,

Hi, yes. I was able to get a full webview by ditching the silly software Phonegap and just making everything from scrach using android studio.

After couple of days of understanding what the hell is going on in the software i was able to develop an app that shows my website correctly.

If you want to take a look you can download the app:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.threedeepuzl.app

I have tried to contact wix support to add my service to the wix stores as i think its simple and can be useful to many users.
But unfortunately got no reply.

No change of code is needed on wix. Everything is configured via android studio incl support to wix mobile buttons (phone, email, etc)
So basically to make an app to any website all i need is the url and the icon for the app.

Thanks for the hint. What about Apple-compatible app?

Dont know since apple compatibility was never in my scope (also not worth the time and money compared to android studio from past experience)

for those who stumble upon the same problem and would like to save some time and headaches i have opened a gig on Fiverr to support this issue.

Cheers.

Hi Nathan,
I’ve read this thread and I apologise for our team not fully understanding your request earlier.
Happy to see you’ve found a workaround, and that you’ve posted explanations and a link to your fiverr, for helping other users.
Good luck and thanks!

Thanks! Would be better if it was on wix app store since im sure its a feature that many users would find useful.

Hi Nathan!
I saw your problem you have published here.
I want to take details. I have the same problem and I hope to get your help.‏
If you are speaking Hebrew, I will be glad :slight_smile:

Hi Or, would love to help.
Since then a friend of mine have developed an automated site for exactly the purpose above.
Feel free to create your app for free in matter of seconds via the following website:
http://appenguin.com/

Enjoy and spread the word!
Feel free to donate to the creator of the website if you enjoy the end result. :slight_smile:

First, thank you from the quick respond.

You have mentioned you used scratch in Android Studio. Could you help me?

i didnt use scratch. i have made it from scratch :slight_smile:
and unfortunately i dont have the time nor the knowledge to teach Android Studio. for that youtube can be your guide as it was mine.
as for keywords what you are looking for is “webview”.
but if all you want is the same thing i needed - simple view of the responsive wix website on mobile, just save yourself some time and hassle and generate an app via appenguin.com.

Cheers and good luck!

Yes. I have used “webview” in Android Studio. I am just asking you for the Scratch…
And yes. I want the same thing you needed… I will use your site. Thank you a lot!
