Yesterday I decided to re-visit Studio, having walked away from it due to the lack of a decent Blog app; which I see is still languishing in the distant past (despite all of the Wix promises).
Working on a new client site I saw the “Update” option for the menu, which was released in March 2025. I paused before hitting the update link, but foolishly believed that the promised enhancements would probably only be minor, and at least I would then have a site with the current menu app installed. Big mistake.
The day started with a three level, text based menu, which was working just fine. By the end of the day I was left with a menu that was claiming to be multi-level, but in actual fact the 2nd and 3rd levels are merged and display as one. This actually took the Products dropdown in my menu off the bottom of the screen, so basically unusable. This wonderful upgrade turned out to be offering reduced functionality and a very poor UX - nice one Wix, I should have known I could rely on you for going into production with a half-baked solution.
A conversation with an AI support bot, and then (I think) a human being, just confirmed my fears; this menu was only going to work for me as a two level menu. So I’ve gone backwards with Studio, and the Editor menu app now offers better functionality than the Studio one - oh boy!
Now I’m stuck with this pile of poo for a menu, and can only hope that the feature request for adding sub-items to a dropdown menu becomes a reality one day - don’t hold your breath, this is Wix remember.
Anyhow, if you feel that Studio really needs a true multi-level menu then please visit the feature request I’ve linked to below, and give it a vote. I live in hope, but Wix are doing a good job of draining away what’s left in me!
