Hey everyone!
In our last Studio Hours session, we took a deep dive into the new Figma to Wix Studio plugin with @JonathanT from the Wix Studio team.
If you couldn’t make it, or just need a recap of everything discussed, read on
We kicked things off with a demo of the plugin, and explored the steps to install, set up, and begin exporting your designs.
Take a look at the tutorial here to get started.
Why is it important to keep the same size for Figma designs and the Wix Studio editing size?
To reduce the need for unnecessary adjustments between designs. Working with the same measurements makes it easier to work between the designs, and ensures everything is imported at the correct scale.
Do you need a Premium plan for Wix Studio or Figma?
No, you can use the plugin with free accounts on both platforms. However, Premium plans in Figm allow for more collaboration, and a Wix Studio Premium plan is required for a custom domain and to remove the free site banner.
Does the plugin work with multiple breakpoints?
Currently, the plugin only supports desktop imports. Adjustments for other breakpoints will be needed. In Figma, it’s possible to design individual “breeakpoints”, however, each design is not related and elements are independent of one another, making only desktop imports possible currently.
How does the plugin handle elements like repeaters, menus, Wix apps etc.?
At present, the plugin supports importing designs. Functional elements, like repeaters, flexbox, menus etc can’t be imported - they’ll be imported as static designs.
Do animations set in Figma import?
Some effects may be possible to create within Wix Studio, but the main focus of the plugin is on importing designs.
Is this not just designing twice? What benefits does working in Figma first?
Figma often allows for faster iteration, multiple design options and collaboration, which makes it a valuable tool in the design process before finalizing in Wix Studio.
