I have a domain and website hosted on Wix, and a subdomain for the same website, but the subdomain now forwards to a website hosted on AWS with a domain on GoDaddy.
The reason for this is that we launched a product approx. 18 months ago. We launched it as a subdomain, but now that the product has become successful, we have assigned it its own domain name. But, we didn’t want to lose the SEO that the subdomain built, or risk losing return visitors who do not know to visit the new domain.
In case it helps, the subdomain on Wix is ukraine.inherentrisks.com and via Wix ‘(A) Host’ we added the value of the new website hosted on AWS and under ‘CNAME’ we entered UkraineRiskMap.com
(UkraineRiskMap (dot) com used to be forwarded to ukraine (dot) inherentrisks (dot) com on GoDaddy)
In Google, if you search ‘Ukraine Risk Map’ the very first entry that shows up is ukraine (dot) inherentrisks (dot) com - and when you open it, it still shows the same subdomain. Why is it not forwarding to ukraineriskmap (dot) com when you open it? And why isn’t ukraineriskmap (dot) com not showing up in Google?
Please can anyone help? I have spoken to three separate people at Wix who were all not able to understand the issue or help resolve it.
Ultimately what we are trying to achieve is that the Google result will return UkraineRiskMap (dot) com
