Tablet Editor

We have a desktop editor, and a mobile editor. These are great, but there seems to be one missing.

My iPad displays the desktop version of the site, but there are loads of things that don’t seem to fit with it. Lots of overlapping, and parts not showing.

A tablet editor would be great, so I can optimise my website for all users!

We are evaluating different ways to improve that area. I’ll pass your name to the relevant people so they can contact you for more feedback or when they have something to show.

Not to forget: the mobile editor needs to take orientation in regards as well/we need responsive design. Sizing up the page just won’t do, I mean look at this:

No button needs to be that big on mobile when the device is turned!

Each time I send out my site I fear they may try to load the site up on their mobile or tablet or just anything other than a computer. It shouldn’t have to be that way, right? We need to be able to be proud of what we made. Wix is a strong editor, heavy at times, but strong and versatile if you know what you’re doing, but some things just make me wonder and, well, kinda sad…

With kind regards,

Dennis

I want to have this tablet editor too please!

Hi Shay and everyone,

I agree that each time in particular on bigger Wix Code projects and for people not already Wix users, tablet editor is our biggest fear because there are a lot of bugs and it’s slow. Wix is so great on many points like backoffice, design freedom, possibilities with Wix Code, … but unfortunately all these great points are hidden if a visitor has a slow and buggy experience mainly on tablets (for example on Ipad with older version like 9.3.5 the repeaters don’t appear).

Now with all the different apps on mobile/tablets like Facebook and so much other apps most part of people has the habits that all the things load fast and have a good responsiveness/interactivity on different devices. More the device is old and more it begins to be difficult to navigate and you probably all know that a lot of people runs with an outdated device.

We made a Wix Code project for this great person @eneleha for a big customer in his country with a lot of visitors. Since the launching of his Wix site, honestly we don’t want to be at his place because his customer has complains everyday by e-mail or phone from people saying that the tablet version loads slowly and that some of them can’t see the repeaters that are the most important part of the website. We have no way to help her more because all is depend of Wix improvement.
Here is another video from a visitor of his client :

We can understand the frustration from visitors on tablets and it’s not normal in 2019. We can’t say that as it’s a tablet it can load slower because the answer will be : “but on others websites my tablet works perfectly !”. What we can answer to this ? “Because it’s Wix, we have no way to control it” ?

It’s something that Wix should have in his main priorities because EVERYONE must have the best experience on every devices (old and new). It’s very painfull for users and experts.
Also I’ve a challenge for Wix : redirect the main Wix home page (https://fr.wix.com) by a fully Wix website replacing all the actual elements by repeaters and elements from the editor during 1 month.
It could be interesting to compare the bounce rates …

In April-May 2018, there was a thing presented like a bug on Android tablet : the mobile version was showing on tablet instead of the mobile version. If it was really a bug it’s the better bug that I seen in my life and for me the workaround in short term. If some people would like to dream a little bit here is like it was :

Shay, I would be very interested to talk with the relevant people at Wix in relation with this subject because there are a lot of workarounds that we can find for the tablet version and I’m always available to help to find the better solution and give advanced feedbacks.

When I used to look at my wix site on a tablet or ipad, it would always show the desktop version (but with some things not quite the same), which was fine. But just in the last couple of days, when I look at my website on a tablet, it is showing the mobile version of my site, which looks terrible on a big tablet. Is anyone else having this problem?? Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Yes, i have done plenty of sites with wix, for my own and for my customers. This tablet situation is frustrating and too much to bare and imposible to make websites i could represent. I have done wix sites since 2010 and for now, for this problem, i’m going to leave and change all my clients with better platform.

If wix support could help, you can always email me, i don’t want to do this but i have to, forsake of my customers.

I pay through my customers over 1500,00 € fees per years, I quess i’m not the only one.
I run http://mobiletest.me/ with upcoming sites and strictly, i have to be honest, it looks terrible.

Same issue. Site looks great on desktop and mobile. Terrible text overlapping and column issues on tablet. Very frustrating as it dictates and restricts the overall design to allow for issues on the tablet.

Yes, please have a Mobile View so that we can adjust. I just signed up for a 2 year premium plan, spent the week building site and testing last night on mobile and desktop view and when checked template design on iPad tablet, looked horrible. Please accelerate this feature.

Yes, please implement the Tablet View (as well as AMP for all pages - seems to be only for blog posts, and the template design I used - google kept bringing up banner at bottom of phone to view a different way that looked bad). I had purchased the 2 year premium plan, not realizing that there would be issues with viewing designs on Tablet/iPad. :frowning:

Please please please give us a tablet editor. How has WIX still not done this? It’s incredibly frustration to have to alter my desktop layout so it doesn’t look ridiculous on the tablet view. Which then compromises my desktop view. It shouldn’t be this way! Hurry up WIX!

Please Wix find a way to give us the tablet editor. I spent so much time on my website and now many clients are getting away because they don’t understand what is going on, on their tablets. When can you fix this?

Apparently editorX has a tablet editor. But I quickly realised I would have to start a new website from scratch and pay for a new domain. Did a bit of digging and couldn’t find the tablet editor anyway. It’s ridiculous.

That is crazy! Starting again from the beginning after investing so much time and energy in the first one… No way… Please Wix do something!

Agreed! A tablet viewer option would be amazing!

I have viewed my website on iPad, iPhone, various Android phones and a Samsung tablet. All looked great except for the Samsung tablet. I did play around with the Samsung tablet settings and there was an option to view pages in either desktop or mobile. Once I switched on the desktop view my website looked great, the problem is that I have to do that every time I view the website. I am hoping that Samsung tablet owners know about this option. I will be putting out an info email to my previous customers since I am switching to a new site. I love the Wix features but had I known this, I wouldn’t have switched over. Unfortunately, I may need to switch to a different site next year if this isn’t fixed.
