Templates and revenue sharing?

Out of curiosity, why do we not get revenue share with templates sold in the marketplace?

What about templates we sell elsewhere using the new download feature, do we get revenue share on templates sold that way?

If not, I feel like I’d be better off selling templates the way that I currently do (make a copy of the template, then transfer it to client/buyer) because then I get paid for the template plus I get the revenue share…

I understand that we get to keep what we make off the template itself, that is not the issue. The issue is the revenue sharing we get from premium plans.

Hey @everyoul-studio!

As I’m sure you’re aware, Rev Share is granted based on a few criteria, but the one that affects templates the most is the “You must be the first owner of the site, even if you no longer have access to it.”

Since when a template is bought/download and used in another account, the site technically is created in the account of the person who purchased it, hence not qualifying for Rev Share.

On the whole, the new process is designed to make manually duplicating sites, sending a request to transfer etc more streamlined. If that works for you, that’s cool too.

I’ve shared the feedback with the team

Yeah, thank you, I understand that. I just feel like technically we are the first owner, we built/designed the template, I understand though.

I think it is a step in the right direction, I love the new feature  !! I just don’t like that it feels like we dont’ get the credit for it.

And even though it is time consuming to duplicate and transfer, on a personal level I think it is more beneficial that we get the points in our account and we also get revenue share (depending on what hosting they purchase).

Just a thought.
