We are using Wix for a new business website and I would now like to transfer over my older companies to Wix - These are on Wordpress or which many plug-ins are failing. They are quite content heavy websites especially with articles / blogs, but also on pages.
My question is, can a wordpress website be moved across easily to Wix?
If my website is on Wix, can I be sure that all the content is safe / saved (I usually have a back up done of my Wordpress websites for security).
Is there a service on Wix that helps those not to affluent on website building to transfer old websites to Wix?
Websites are:
Yes and No. All the blogs can be imported, but the actual design will need to be rebuilt. There is no automatic click and transfer of everything.
Any plugins will not transfer. You will need to either use Wix apps or custom codeding.
Yes, but it works differently to Wordpress backups.
With Wix:
Hosting + infrastructure is fully managed by Wix
Your site is:
- Automatically saved (no need for manual backups)
- Stored in secure cloud infrastructure
- You also get:
- Site History (restore points) — you can roll back your site if needed
That said, if you’re cautious (which is smart), you can still export CMS collections and keep local copies of blog content/images
Yes, you can hire experts from the Marketplace to do all the work. Or import the content yourself and hire a developer to help with structure, dynamic pages, SEO setup and any advanced functionality you require.
Hi everyone!
Happy to announce that WordPress to Wix migration is here
Our new feature lets you move your WordPress site to Wix, covering both your frontend and your backend data.
All you need is an AI coding agent like Claude or Codex. Start with this prompt and tweak it for your site:
I want to migrate my WordPress website from {my-website-url} to Wix using the following skill: skills/skills/wix-replatform/SKILL.md at main · wix/skills · GitHub
Migrate all frontend and backend data, including {CRM and contacts, product data, bookings, blog posts, and customer purchase history}.
Walk me through the process and check your plan with me before implementing anything. Once I approve, begin the migration.
Good to know:
- Nearly all WordPress data can be brought over to Wix, though some plugin data may not make the move.
- You’ll need to step in at certain points, like giving access to your WordPress dashboard and pointing your domain to your new Wix site. Your agent will tell you when, so stay close as it works.
- It’s up to you whether to migrate just the frontend or bring your backend data along too. Customizing the prompt for your specific site will get you better results.
- The skill is still in development, and we’ll be rolling out updates and improvements over time. Got feedback? Send it our way.
