I am checking in again to see if there has been any movement on this issue. We have migrated our site to Wix, with the hope that Wix would follow through and solve this. On Oct 7, Brett Haralson (Wix) said, this was in the works. Its now January and it is still not addressed. As of now, our customers will have to email their MP3 to me, then I will have to manually upload the file to the media manger, and then connect it to the database so it can be used in a repeater. It baffles me that a video file (way bigger than a audio file) can be uploaded through a user input form but not an audio file. This reflects poorly on Wix. It leaves me concerned about the responsiveness of Wix on future problems. It would be nice to have a response of some kind.
I had to do something like that with the Google Cloud Storage storage. Then I would get back the URL once it’s uploaded, but I didn’t get to the URL part.

Step 5 in this article is guiding you through a regular process of adding an upload button, but there we go again - no Audio support in upload button. So is it supported or not? If yes, then why it’s not one of the options in upload button? If not, why does this article exist at all?

Unfortunately that information was posted in error, but it has since been corrected.
The reason for the article is to explain that you can upload your own audio files to your database collections, then connect them to the Wix Audio Player on your site, basically so you can play more songs.

I apologize for the delay in my reply as well as the frustration here. I understand we mentioned this feature months ago and it’s still not released. In all honesty I’m not in development, but it can be a long process with many setbacks. However, I know you guys deserve a little more info than “it’s coming”. I don’t want to misspeak at all, but what I think I can tell you (without getting in too much trouble) is that, yes, the feature does exist and is being worked on, towards the end of the 4th quarter of last year it moved into another phase of development, within the last month it moved into another significant phase, but it looks like there’s still time to go. I’m sorry I can’t give much more information or an exact release date, but I hope this helps. Feel free to check back in or let us know if you have any more questions. Thanks
Is there any known workarounds to this issue as of right now?! Trying to figure out how on earth for clients to upload their audio and I’ve already built my whole site. Silly of me to think that of course an mp3 file would be an option to upload. I was very wrong! Site needs to go live this weekend and now it looks like I may have to build another on some other site. Maybe squarespace has what I need 
I’ll be honest with you, Sqaurespace almost definitely doesn’t have what you need if Wix doesn’t have it .
I comment to say this is now possible with the release of Wix Custom Elements, but will require quite a bit of coding. Because they render the Custom Element as part of the page, and connect it directly to your backend code, you should be much better off than using an Iframe to do it, which persons, including myself were doing.
I’m going to have to build a custom element for my project and I wont mind sharing the code, but it’s not for a good couple weeks.
Ya I found that out very very quickly that squarespace has next to nothing when it comes to customization of forms! I greatly appreciate the help. Unfortunately a couple weeks is a little too long. I also have no coding experience except for old myspace/tumblr days haha. I will make do with what I have for now. Hopefully this will become a feature very soon on Wix!! Thanks again

Thanks again for your patience. Unfortunately, development generally can’t be accelerated, things usually move at max capacity.
As far as current alternatives or workarounds go, I did find a few options that allow for visitor audio file uploads. However they won’t link to Wix’s Content Collections.
To search for these apps, click the “Wix App Market” button at the left of your Editor. Then search “Form”, “File”, “Audio” etc. to search from hundreds of apps. You can also check straight from your browser here:

I did find a couple apps that allow audio file uploads:

Forms apps may be your best bet for audio file uploads. “Dropbox” or similar file sharing apps could also work.
From what I can see, and I think say, within the last couple weeks, the Upload Button’s ability to accept audio files as moved into another phase of development. Again, there is still time and phases to go. However, it appears to me, that it’s entered a testing phase (meaning the majority of the development is complete), but please don’t quote me too much on that. It still may take much testing and bug fixing before anything is final, but it does look like we’re getting close.
Feel free to reply with any questions or to check back in. I hope the third-party apps will be a good temporary solution, and I do think Wix’s solution is on the way.

Thanks for the update Trent! Much appreciated. I’m eagerly awaiting Wix’s version of this feature instead of a third party because my company needs to receive hundreds of audio file uploads per day from hundreds of different customers as they pay to upload their audio files to us for process. It’s at the crux of our business model, and I’d hate to have to launch on another website platform if this feature is delayed much longer. Really looking forward to it.

Trent, thanks for the update. If the apps won’t link the audio file to a database (collection) then it won’t help me. It would still require someone to manually do it. Hopefully fix will be out sometime soon. Have a good day and stay healthy

Hey @benbradley91 , no problem! Unfortunately Wix’s solution still has some time to go. It could be soon or take weeks to months, but definitely won’t happen by this Friday. We’d obviously like you to stay with Wix, but the only immediate solution would be to use a work-around. Wix has a lot of connections with Google, for search, analytics and more. So your best bet may be to work with a Google app from the Wix App Market. Drive appears to allow for audio uploads, you’d just have to check on the sharing and setup features. https://www.wix.com/market/web-solution/google-drive . Customers could also upload audio file URLs (if they have or can get the URLs (Dropbox?)) to a Google Sheet. Google Sheets can be imported to Wix Collections. Another option would be to use Wix Contributors, which may not be so good with your high volume, etc. But maybe you create a Wix account for each customer just to upload/share audio files? Sorry these aren’t great solutions, but maybe they can help you figure one out.

You may also be able to have visitors upload audio file URLs to a Google Sheet or Wix Form if they can get the URL elsewhere?
