Same boat as you, if you find the solution let me know, typing out orders in ups is a bummer .
The elephant in the room is the lack of interest on WIX in part working with the private sector carriers, UPS, FedEx, DHL, Purolator, Etc… and the noteworthy aspect of catering to the USPS, a Gov owned, regulated, operated, and effective only in being insolvent - https://www.gao.gov/key_issues/us_postal_service_financial_viability/issue_summary
I couldn’t spend enough time or bandwidth expressing my disdain that included in the USPS shipping API that doesn’t really offer much unless your business centers around small objects and or items that can be flat-rate shipped.
We deal with the outdoor markets, everything from Kayaks to off-road vehicle parts. Many larger items can be drop shipped but even so, there’s no effective way to even create proper shipping rules based upon the current offerings in order to even be able to charge shipping effectively. Spending so much time, effort, and financial energy building the site to begin with taking a few months to only find out you can’t effectively conduct business is frustrating. now over 1800 products later, several work around’s, almost no answers from WIX and any that do come into suggestion really turn into a snake eating its own tail and lead no where other than putting it onto yourself completely.
Not a single reference point to really come to come full circle to a solution. Calls to customer service/Help, dozens of google searches, almost 4 years after this coming 2021, lots of frustration, and still on square two with exception of watching the struggle.
Some direction has pointed at using the Fetch feature in Corvid, I would assume with my light knowledge that it would have to go on the checkout page, in developer mode, but as to exactly how it should be properly implemented I haven’t fully discovered. I have been trying to add to posts as I find them in hopes it leads a path instead of the handsel & gretel bread crumbs that never seem to lead anywhere.
UNLESS someone from WIX is actually editing posts to not let the information be known for some reason.
I am also working to find a solution for this, with limited coding knowledge of my own. Surprised and frustrated to find that an answer isn’t out here yet! I will definitely report back if I do come up with something.
Hi Folks,
There are many reasons for not integrating with UPS.
One of which, they are not always easy to work with.
Another is that each account has its own level for API access.
Any experienced NODEjs/Velo developer can help you set this up.
The functions to call UPS’s api should be used in the site’s backend code, and can return address validations and rates to the front end. You’ll need to be familiar with fetch and soap to complete the integration.
For best results, you’ll need to build a custom cart.
Any time you interrupt an out of the box feature of the WIX cart, your best option is to build the page from scratch.
This means you will also need to be familiar with the payment API’s and store API’s so you can collect payment and push orders into the store…
Did you ever find a solution to integrate UPS? I am in the same boat. My site has to use both UPS Parcel & TForce FTL\LTL depending on the product purchased. USPS does not work for our business or the site we built.
Unfortunately not, and because I have just creatively, somewhat, been able to just deal with the work-around’s I have in place so I can maintain frame of business; I’ve been so focused on business and growing/maintaining business that i have had little to no time to exercise a solution.
There are no concessions on behalf of WIX here, and its halfway through 2023 now, lets call that 6.5, almost 7 years now in total and ALL of WIX solution advisors have still yet to approach me or taken by appeal that it would be the feature of the decade if they offered it.
And although I am not actively on a crusade because I am too busy working to work, every time I do have a conversation with WIX, I engage every conversation with them on the fact there is NO real time Shipping .API’s… Why not? Most often their resolution is to point at Shippo, or similar 4th party now actor who just gets in on the profit margin action. I been on WIX since the mid to later part of 2017. I’ve seen plenty “Features” that came from 3rd party apps get integrated by WIX or tossed to the wayside by WIX for whatever reason there may be. But you would think for as important as it is to have something like UPS, FedEx, Purolator, maybe even DHL which isn’t even in the US as much in the last 10-15 years now but three of which are worldwide carriers would have a seat at the table of priority.
They do for Shopify, they do for Squarespace…, Word press… Meanwhile, I can have 63 ways from Sunday on how to print up a report or integrate with everything else out there in the business market - Just don’t ask for shipping .API’s that make sense.
I honestly believe that WIX has the leading platform when it comes to template style website making say over the aforementioned brands. The front end is incredibly liberal with anything and everything you could want to do with your website, and that even includes where things are positioned, said or how the very feel of the site any your product pages work for the user/customers. But on the importance of critical infrastructure of the Business back end… still making fire with a bow-drill and some dry pine needles.
How long would it take you? Will it interfere with daily operations, this is critical to planning. Do you specifically handle any updates if necessary as in these days it seems like there are a ton of updates required due to many changes in anything commerce or payments (commerce) related… and finally how much & how soon can you bring a quote to fruition?
If anyone is still looking for a solution, we have recently released a UPS app for Wix which offers shipping rates and label printing https://www.wix.com/app-market/web-solution/ups-shipping-label-printing
