Viewing created sites through instagram (sizing issues) Help Please.

Afternoon All, I really hope someone will be able to help me. It was brought to my attention yesterday by one of my clients that when they or their customers view their website by clicking on the link in their instagram bio the site does not view correctly. It’s as if everything gets made bigger. So I double checked and they are correct. Everything is fine with the mobile site if viewed through the mobiles native web app, but as soon as you view it via the instagram bio link it resizes things and pushes bits around. I then when on to check some of my other created sites and it does the same. They look terrible and not how they have been setup for mobile. Please see the attached screen shots of three different sites, two screen shots for each site. One where it looks great viewed through the mobile web app and the other if the link in Instagram is clicked. I’ve tried viewing now on multiple devices and its the same outcome. Any help is much appreciated as I’m totally lost of what to do. Thanks in advance! Nige

Try increasing the width of the text box elements as much as possible. It worked for me. Might work for you also. I am not so sure if wix fully support in-app browser although this support article says it does. Supported Browsers | Help Center | Wix.com

Thanks for the speedy response Webix_Studio the only problem I can see with that though is where you have paragraph text it will mean the text will run very close to the edges rather than looking nice and centralised, or to the side of an image in a strip, its a shame you don’t have much control over the copy in the mobile builder, if you could add in soft returns that would be great. Also a lot of work to go over sites that you thought were signed of and looking pretty  I’ll take a look at the article you’ve flagged. Many Thanks!

@dee4charlotte great resource, thanks for sharing!

@info41039 I would also encourage you to connect with our customer care team so that they can take a deeper look. You can contact them by opening a ticket or requesting a callback through your Partner dashboard.

Hi Sheyla, that was my first port of call, I’ve been trying all day going back and forth with the customer services Team. Unfortunately not solved the issue yet or got back to me with any advice. Thanks Nige

Happy to share some experience based knowledge. In my case never had any trouble with text box containing long paragraphs. Just had to adjust the width of title(header) text boxes to make sites look consistent over in-app browsers. Have done this with all of my sites.

Response from support is not fast these days most probably due to this pandemic. Hey @Nigel Cooper please do share with us what you learn from the support when you get a response. I am thinking of raising a ticket for the same but i already have raised few other concerns.

@sheyla no sweat. Happy to help.

@dee4charlotte Will do! Hopefully they will come back with a solution or at least some constructive advice, don’t fancy going over a load of sites I thought were signed off. I’d seen a similar thread on a SquareSpace forum where a user was having the same experience just through Instagram and he was supplied with some custom code to fix the issue.
