As you all know back in February we had a round table discussion where we introduced some amazing new mobile features. We are now halfway through the year and we’d like to know what you look forward to seeing on Wix mobile in the near future.
What are some missing features you'd like to see?
What are some areas where you'd like to see improvement?
Please share your feedback with @Idan and his team in the comments section below. We look forward to your responses!
The new mobile features that were introduced this past February were very welcomed. Especially the preload screen and the ability to add and design the mobile menu, excellent work.
It would be nice to have the ability to show the automated mobile menu on a page that does not have a header and a footer. In many sites I designed, I do not show a header and footer on the homepage so the background image or video is more responsive to the browser window. However, in order to have the mobile menu appear on the mobile site, I have to create a hamburger icon and hide it behind another element on the desktop homepage, so I can make this hamburger icon appear on the mobile version, and then link this icon to a lightbox with the site menu.
The lightbox opening is always slow and bit delayed. It would be nice to have the option to have the page in mobile show the mobile menu if there is no header and footer on the page.
Thanks @dacreativedesign for your feedback!
I listed your request. I hope will provide a proper solution to this problem soon.
Don’t hesitate to add some more feature requests here!
I would like to be able to open the Menu using Wix Code on pages with no mobile menu (No Header/Footer) pages so i can create a custom header experience.
I would like to see a very small thin loading bar at the top of the screen on mobile when navigating between pages, because sometimes it can take a little bit long when you click a button but don’t see anything happening. This is because Wix uses AJAX to navigate between pages (which prevents that reload experience). Hope you understand what i mean.
I am hopeful WIX will improve mobile load speed and make the sites more responsive. The load speed is much better than in the past but still not awesome. Google has made it very clear that speed is super important to SEO.
Because designing the mobile version of a Wix website is my least favorite part of my job, I would love to see a new feature called ‘make your website with one click responsive for all devices’. But I guess that’s not possible? In that case; every new feature that helps designing a mobile website with less work would be great.
And I think it is also in the interest of Wix, because there are so many Wix users who forget to make their website mobile-friendly, or do not know about this tool/feature/must-do or simply do not understand why you should actually make two versions of a website.
Hi! Mobile version is not adaptive at the moment. When using the smartphone in a horizontal position, the mobile version is simply scaled. It can not be used in 90% of cases. I would like to give users a better experience. We could add a simple warning label. This is a popular practice at the moment.
What is completely missing from Wix is mobile responsive design . We shouldn’t have to create/alter/change the desktop version for it to view properly in mobile or even have a mobile customization page when building. Once you build your site, it should adapt on the fly to accommodate the 4 main screen sizes (the widescreen desktop monitor, the smaller desktop or laptop, the tablet, and the mobile phone). The Wix mobile phone editor and mobile phone test view was good back in 2012.
It’s also a must for every blogger to have his/her mobile optimized. I think a blog without responsive design isn’t a blog, because It loses a lot.
Thanks @yarglouis for the feedback.
The request for responsiveness is understood.
I there has been a lot of improvements for Blog on mobile, have you seen it?
I would love to hear what is still missing to you for Blog on mobile.
@idan-cohen , The Wix Blog options for mobile are great, and it is nice that you have separate blog controls for the mobile version, this is very helpful.
One thing I noticed, if you click on the text of the blog article you want to read, you navigate to the article with a rollover color change on the text.
If you click on the image for the blog article, you do navigate to the blog article, but there is no rollover effect on the image you click. Sometimes the Wix blog response time on mobile is a little slow, so if the user intuitively clicks in the image for the blog article they want to read, and there is a delay, it may appear that the article page will not come up.
Perhaps as a solution, have a rollover solid color change appear when the user selects the image on mobile, so they are aware the image is a clickable link to get to the article page and will tend to wait for the article page to load.
Currently hover box works on mobile by presenting one of the states (regular or hovered) because there is no hover action on mobile device. In interested to hear how would you do the behavior of hover box on mobile?
How would you expect it to work?
I think you nailed the fundamental problem with WIX. For all the things it does right and better than other editors, the lack of being fully responsive is atrocious in 2019! Having to practically make a separate site for mobile is inexcusable. I dont want to be too dramatic because i love wix, but they better get on top of the responsive issue or they will loose customers.
