I’m not being presented with the design icon when trying to edit a horizontal menu.

I’m in the standard Wix Studio Editor and I’ve been able to build a new version of my current site and I’m hoping to launch it ASAP however despite it allowing me to edit all the other aspects of the site it won’t allow me to change the design of the horizontal menu in the header of the site.
What I’m trying to do:**
- Change the background colour.
- Change the text colour.
- Change the colour when a menu option is highlighted
When selecting the menu it does not even provide me with the design ‘paintbrush’ icon.
Can anybody help?
