Why does my menu crunch up on smaller screens?

I researched other Wix sites to see what I’d like to happen and found: michalorenjewelry dot com.

Reduce the size of the page and the menu just stops contracting at a certain point.

Mine scrunches up.

I’ve set up columns. I’ve stripped out columns. I’ve frozen things. I’ve unfrozen things. What am I missing? In my brain, I see a column with the logo, an empty column, and a column with navigation because in my mind, that empty middle column would inhibit the navigation from crunching into the logo. Thoughts? And thank you.

This was a Wix template and it looks like it had layers and layers of content. I stripped down everything in the header and now it looks like the menu is responding how I think it should.
