Totally agree with @shan
Interesting point of view: https://www.wix.com/corvid/forum/community-discussion/is-something-wrong-with-dashboard-pages-or-database
Is the dashboard page & database permissions bug related to the new redesign of the database?
Now that I think about it, these issues started escalating around the time the new database versions were being deployed. Might want to check with that area wix.
Thanks Shan. Don’t believe it’s related but checking on it. A fix is in progress.
Thank you!!!
This is sooo true! The generic dynamic pages are such a PAIN!
Wix, I love you guys, but this feature is not just useless but extremely annoying! Please bring back how it was: You click Add a dynamic page → it gives you option of Item Page or Collection Page (or whatever it was called) → simple blank page is created. Simple. No unnecessary actions needed.
Please.
You can get a blank dynamic page by selecting this option from collection’s context menu. See my post above.
Just want to add a few of my own observations about Wix and dynamic pages. First of all, the documentation is extremely thin. For example, if I wanted to expose a page for a user to create a new entry in my collection, how do I do that? I couldn’t find any such docs. I finally figured out the approach but it is not a good user experience. Good UX takes additional code, and it’s still not great.
Second, the collections page (All) should be automatically populated with search and sort controls. If your collection is small, fine you just delete the controls. But as soon as your collection exceeds, say, 20 items, you will want to have those controls rather than forcing your users to scroll, scroll, scroll, next, scroll, scroll, scroll, next… It’s just not good UX.
Overall I think dynamic pages saves me some time and for that I’m grateful, but those time savings get chipped away really fast as soon as you start worrying about data sanity checks, referential integrity checks, and better messaging. Like seriously, “try again later”? Under what circumstances is that ever appropriate in a robust scalable environment, and how do you know that it applies?
And finally, while I am glad that we’re discussing a feature in this forum, more than once I have been spanked for discussing a coding issue with respect to a Wix feature. You can’t call Wix support - as soon as you say the word “code” they say they can’t help - and this forum is real quick to dismiss questions about Wix features because Support is supposed to answer it. There is a gap in support for anybody who wants coding advice for a Wix feature. Makes you want to avoid the feature completely!
I am a programmer and trying to build a web application using Editor X and Corvid. I found several bugs, none of which have been fixed by Wix. Even getting through their support is too time consuming and they act like robots without showing attitude to help.
Even some very basic bugs are not yet being fixed
- You cannot postMessage to/from Editor-X iFrame on Live sites (Preview is OK)
- When you set top/bottom margin in % on Editor X, the margin is calculated with reference to the container width, instead of container height
The stability of the system is also very poor. As soon as my web app getting complex, and it perform several backend calls to access collection, the calls to backend (Ajax requests) randomly fails with various errors.
Now very unhappy because I’ve already purchased Premium plan for a year. I probably need to make a bold decision to move my web app platform to another platform.
Geez, Wix is driving me nuts.
Editor X is in the beta phase, and you can expect to find there bugs, performance issues, and missing features. You should take that into account when you decide whether or not to build your site using editor X (personally I almost never use it, especially after I experienced some episodes of endless page loading and weird errors. I’m going to wait until it becomes more mature).
Hi Opi,
Thank you for letting us know about these issues; we will share them directly with the Editor X team. Please note that there is an Editor X Community Forum , where you can find out about their Updates & Releases, add feature requests to their Wishlist, post questions, and more.
