Wix Studio: How to Create a Language Selection Page Before Entering the Website?

Hello,

I’m building my website with Wix Studio and I’m using Wix Multilingual.

I don’t want to use the language switcher directly inside the website.

I would like to create an intro/landing page before entering the website, where visitors first choose their language:

:united_kingdom: English
:france: Français
:portugal: Português

For example, if the visitor clicks Français, they should then be taken directly to the French version of my website. If they click English, they should be taken to the English version, etc.

So I’m trying to find out how to create this language selection page in Wix Studio and how to make each button redirect to the correct language version of the website.

I don’t want to simply add a language switcher to the website header. I want the language choice to happen before the visitor enters the website.

What is the best way to achieve this with Wix Studio + Wix Multilingual?

Hi Tarik, you don’t need a switcher in the header for this. Build the landing page as a separate page with three buttons (English, Français, Português), then link each button to the matching home page in its Multilingual version. Set the link in the button’s Link panel by choosing that language’s home page from the page list. Visitors who click go straight to that language.

One thing to check: Multilingual can also redirect visitors automatically based on their browser language. If that happens on your landing page, the visitor skips it. Test it in Preview using a private window and different browser languages before you publish.

Hi Tarik, you can do this without a switcher in the header. Build a simple landing page at your root URL with three buttons (English, Français, Português). Each button links to that language’s home page. In the Wix Multilingual settings, open each language and copy its home page URL, then point the matching button at it. Test it in a private window, since the browser language can trigger an automatic redirect and skip your landing page. If this helped, please mark it as Solved.
