You are going to lose customers if you force Studio

I was led to this section because of an issue I have with Anchors and how you have removed them from the elements panels. A place they have always existed and a place where every single help article that you can search for from Wix instructs you to find them. One of many changes that are not user friendly about this (yet another) overhaul of the entire Wix environment.

You just released editor X three years ago. Now you want to change it again and change how we use it and change where tools are located that YOU have taught everyone for years to look for. The user experience of your website creator is SO CRUCIAL to your success, I hope you realize that. Changing the entire environment over and then over again is not a good user experience for something that is a complicated tool that I need to use to build other complicated things. We want CONSISTENCY. We want RELIABILITY. We do not want changes that feel like they were pulled from someone’s but instead of made based on thorough customer experience research. Only THREE years since you released editor X.

Studio feels like someones mid-life crisis rather than a carefully researched idea.

Hey @Emily_Hatton!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

One of the reasons Wix Studio was built is to provide a comprehensive solution for agencies to build sites at scale. Wix Studio does this not just through the editor, but also the workspace, community, dedicated app, and more - providing long-requested features, like scroll interactions, a public roadmap, making the editing experience more intuitive etc.

While yes, anchors where found in the add panel of the Wix Editor, Studio is more aligned with Editor X, where anchors have always been part of the element editing experience - Editor X: Adding and Using Anchors | Help Center | Wix.com

While working on Wix Studio, the teams worked closely with users to test new features, explore how users interact with the platform etc. The Insiders - which you can read more about here - Shaping Wix Studio: The Insiders - were a group that worked closely with the product team to shape Wix Studio and provide valuable insights into their workflows etc. These were both Wix Editor and Editor X users.

If you haven’t had a chance, I’d recommend taking a look over the Studio Academy. Having chatted with various people, it’s been extremely beneficial with helping them orientate themselves with the platform:

With all that being said, there’s some great feedback here that I’ve already shared with the team, and if you have any more feedback, be sure to share it in this category. Or for feature requests, head over to the Product Roadmap and Request a Feature

@noahlovell

I appreciate that reply. I’d just like to point out that the answer involves me going to an Academy and re-learning your tool if I want to be able to use it now.

It does not make sense to take away choices. Let the anchors live in both places.

It doesn’t make sense to keep changing the environment you want ALL people to work in because you’re chasing the complaints of agencies. I thought Wix was designed for ANYONE to build a site, not just agencies who need to build “at scale”. If you want to appeal to everyone and be a mainstream solution for average people to build sites, changing the way the tool is used is going to frustrate them. Changing that tool repeatedly in a short period of time will drive them away because you appear unreliable and undependable. That you’re just going to keep changing this thing every few years as you chase the complaints of Karens.

At the end of the day, keep things consistent, stop changing things all the time, and give people choices.

I agree 100% with you Emily. I just created a website on Editor X that i’m so happy with. Since learning that we are migrating to Wix Studio, I recently created a website using Wix studio. While there are some features that are the same, I really had to dig deep to re-learn things that would have taken me 5 seconds in Editor X.

To boot, now that I’ve launched the Wix Studio website, I’ve come to realize the website will not display on older versions of Safari for Mac. My editor X website displays no problem, but my Wix Studio website says you need to update your browser. Go tell that to the millions of elderly people with older computers that will no be able to view my website.

I reached out to customer service about the issue and he said most people around the world keep their apps up to date and its not a big deal. Sorry Wix Studio, you’re a bit out of touch with reality. I’m very sad that I have to leave Editor X and come to Wix Studio. :frowning:

@user840 Hey! Just letting you know that I’ve made note of this to ensure the teams are aware. Also, if you have any other feedback about specific things in Studio that you dislike and even things about it that you do like, please don’t hesitate to share! This all gets seen by our teams!

Unfortunately I don’t agree with the ‘change part’ as I’ve worked in all environments, they all have changed a bit for the most part. Squarespace went from 7.0 to 7.1 to Fluid Engine. All were a significant change in how things were designed and unlike Wix there’s no Classic version choice. Webflow changed it’s entire interface and added some features, took some away. Wordpress page builders change constantly which is why some deal with the issues of site breakage. In terms of usability Wix Studio hasn’t really been a problem for me, especially considering it’s barely 3 months old. There are other things I bring up: Browser support. This one is huge. I expect this to get addressed.
Another is control over CSS properties. I don’t understand this and I’ve brought it up. Why can’t containers have mask, gradients, individual border sizing, setting the image as a background within the container etc. These are full CSS properties every builder has and if the container and if the container is essentially a div then we should be allowed full CSS control without having to write the CSS code for it. Same with text font weights. Again I’m all for change but if you’re going to make this an advanced builder then give us advanced design options out of the box, I’m hoping these simple implementations make it to the engineering team for development.

The browser thing is a huge concern of mine. Tech support told me “Most ppl keep their browser up to date.” Well, first off, I didn’t have mine up to date. If my computer is working fine, I often avoid updates. This goes for millions of other people. Wix is clearly out of touch with reality on this issue.

yep I get it, truthfully they should be up to date for security reasons. Too many users info is compromised due to outdated browsers especially Chrome but Wix needs to address compatibility issues - actually not just Wix. Webflow stopped IE11 compatibility which millions still use (why, that’s not my issue lol)

Yes, definitely it’s a good idea to keep the browser up to date, and many people do, but I also know many people don’t. I just read online that Safari now has over 1 Billion users. So, even if 5% of those users don’t keep Safari updated, that’s still 50 Million users around the world who won’t be able to view Wix Studio websites online. That’s troubling.

I totally agree with you. It’s not making sense what they are doing. I wrote something similar - Vertical Sections - Does it still Exist?

Their teams labeled as “Community Manager” or “Wix Team” will respond with a generic response and say they will forward it to the team yet months will pass and you hear nothing. At best, they will just give you a link to submit a feature request…something we already went though with Editor X when it was in beta. It’s like an endless cycle of requesting features that already exist but then you hope a certain feature get’s added to Wix Studio before they cut off editor x. Otherwise, you’re stuck with the classic wix editor with a bunch of work arounds.

LOL how you went from “I don’t agree” to literally listing a bunch of additional points that back up my point that you supposedly don’t agree with. lol typical man

Actually it didn’t back up your point. You’re point was you were adverse to change in general, my point was yes platforms, pretty much all of them change at some point but then I noted the features that have actually been missing in both EX and Wix studio that should be implemented by default. You may want to pour yourself a cup of rich black coffee and reread the replies.

@000 Hey! Just wanted to acknowledge your post.

I understand the frustration when there may be features previously available in Editor X and not in Studio, but I want to ensure the conversation remains constructive.

To provide more visibility, we do go through each and every post and note the feedback so the product teams can easily see what features are being discussed, what questions are being asked, what works well and what doesn’t, etc. This is why all input is valuable in the process of continually improving the platform.

The purpose of the roadmap is to give users the ability to influence and shape the future roadmap of Wix. For example, we heard the feedback about advanced sizing being globally available in Studio, which we took to the teams, and it was added.

Since Wix Studio is a new tool, it does require a little readjusting to. It’s one of the reasons we’ve had an overlap period between the launch of Wix Studio and Editor X sites becoming Wix Studio sites. The Academy is also designed in a way that accommodates different learning styles, like webinars, the essentials course, etc.

Please remember the Forum Guidelines when sharing your feedback - FAQ - Wix Studio Community forum

The feedback shared is important, and we will continue advocating the voice of the community when chatting with the teams.
