Automatic Email Notifications

How do I set an automation that will send an email to a site admin whenever a forum post is published? I see that there is an automation that is preloaded for me (I think), but…
Where do I set the email address that the automation will send to? I want to target ONLY specifice email addresses.

check the automation settings and you should be able to change receiver.

Sorry but I can’t access your suggestion. For a “pre-installed” automation, it says that “…Editing options are limited.” For this pre-installed automation (for the Wix Forum) it looks like an email will be sent ONLY to the the collaborator/owner that installed the forum.

I simply want to designate an email address that the notification will be sent to.

Another issue is, when I try and create an automation from “Scratch” - it does not show the Wix Forum app as an application that can trigger an automation (this is getting very frustrating)!! See the screenshot below

Our Forum sends notifications to those who follow the thread. So we require all site admin to FOLLOW the topics and we all get notifications by default. No need for an additional automations.

The problem is however, I don’t want all site admins to be notified of forum posts - just the one or two who are in charge of monitoring it - otherwise it is generating useless email traffic to the site collaborators/co-owners who don’t need to be bothering with the forum traffic.

Comments?

Just have those few follow the discussion.

I’m sorry but your comment doesn’t make sense to me as you seem to be proposing that only selected site co-owners/collaborators “follow the discussion” … My request is that:
a dedicated 2 or 3 site co-owners/collaborators be notified by an email whenever ANYONE publishes (or comments on) a post in the forum.

Hi - I finally managed to get a response from Wix support. It seems as my question is not functionally do-able at this time. It has been asked for by other people and “…is on the roadmap” as a feature.
I will have to agree with another poster on another topic – please don’t add any new features, just get the basics done first.

To set up an automation that sends an email to a specific email address whenever a forum post is published, you’ll typically need to access the settings or configuration options of your forum platform. The exact steps may vary depending on the forum software you’re using. However, I can provide you with some general guidance:

  1. Login to your forum admin panel: Access the administrative area of your forum using your admin credentials. This is usually a separate login page or a specific URL provided by your forum software.

  2. Locate the automation settings: Look for the section or settings related to automation, notifications, or email alerts. This is where you’ll configure the email notification for new forum post publications.

  3. Configure the email address: Within the automation settings, you should find an option to specify the email address(es) that will receive the notifications. Enter the specific email addresses you want to target for these notifications. Make sure to double-check for accuracy.

  4. Save and test: After entering the desired email addresses, save the settings. Some platforms may also provide a test option to send a test email to ensure that the notifications are being sent to the correct addresses.
It’s important to consult your forum platform’s documentation or support resources for detailed instructions specific to your software. Additionally, if there is a preloaded automation available, review its settings to see if it allows customization of the email address.

Thanks for your reply but…

  1. The pre-installed automations for the Wix Forum only have limited user editing capabilities (cannot set targeted email addresses)
  2. A user cannot create custom automations for the Wix Forum

These are known deficiencies to the Wix Team
