Hello, I want to raise an important point on the SEO part.
100% of the sites that I have developed with or without Wix data have a problem with the text / html ratio and this is due to the fact that wix puts a lot of html codes in its pages, which means that despite the fact of creating text content up to 7000 words the text / html ratio is ALWAYS below 10%. Google recommends at least 10% on this ratio, 90% of my sites are below 2%.
Do the test with semrush, or other solutions you will see for yourself. This affects ALL Wix sites !
Consequences:
my sites are increasingly poorly referenced
Google therefore takes wix sites for spam sites
So, please do something quickly to change the way you code !!!
Explanations: Your HTML text ratio indicates the amount of actual text you have on your web page compared to the amount of code. This problem appears if your text to HTML ratio is less than or equal to 10%. Search engines have started to focus on pages that have more content. This is the reason why a higher text to HTML ratio means your page has a better chance of getting a good position in the search results. Having less code increases your page load speed and also helps improve your rankings. It also allows search engine bots to crawl your site faster.
Moreover, I find that since mid October 2020 all the clients with whom I collaborate have seen their positions dropped in Google …
Although SEMRush is a great tool, keep in mind that Wix sites have a unique structure and some external tools will not provide an accurate reading of our framework, which is why we recommend using Wix Turbo for site speed insights.
We work closely with Google especially (as well as other search engines) to optimize best within our unique structure, so it’s important to note that domain connected Wix sites are not considered spam for Google.
Performance improvements have and will always be a prioritized focus here at Wix. Again, thank you for your feedback. I will be forwarding it to the designated team.
hi @stevenjose , I did the test on 3 tools: Semrush, Screamingfrog and sitechecker tools and the 3 tell me that there is a problem with the text / html ratio which makes google mistake the pages for spam. Here I am not talking about page display speed but about the quality of the page. Moreover, how do you explain that wix sites have been losing positions in google since mid October? I think there is a real problem. Thank you for bringing up the problem
First and foremost, I wanted to just say that I really appreciate this question and the amount of SEO detail it contains. (As an SEO geek, it’s everything I could want!)
I’d like to address your concerns item-by-item beginning with the code to text ratio you mentioned.
Interestingly enough, Google’s John Mueller has taken this up in the past. Per Google, code to ratios are not usedin any way.
That said your point about the ratio and spam content is very interesting. Google has advanced tremendously as it comes to spam detection and uses a quite holistic approach to determining spam. In fact, Google has gotten so good at spam detection that it knows which sites contain low-quality links andautomatically ignores themshould any such links point to your site.
More to the point, the biggest factor in determining if the content is low-quality is the content itself, as Google has consistently repeated. Google, through the advent of natural language processing and other machine learning properties, has become quite adept at understanding content and its quality.
Just to illustrate this, Google has said that itprofiles contentby comparing one piece to another. In other words, via its machine learning properties, Google is able to understand how content around a given topic should ‘look and feel’.
Hello wix team,
5 months have passed since my last post, and I haven’t noticed any changes in the ratio / text part. Even if some think that it is not important (And what J. Muller said in 2018 goes back 3 years ago)
I really want Wix to do something to quickly get to a minimum of 10% by reducing the coded. Have you planned anything to improve this point in SEO?
Thx u
Firstly, there have been efforts to reduce the code on the page. For example, we are working on only serving the JS that aligns with the specific features on the page. This has already been implemented on certain page types.
That said, and I can’t state this with any more clarity than this, code to text ratios have absolutely no impact on your rankings. It is not a signal that Google uses.
