Blog Category Image Sizes and Related Post sizes

I have read this post, and this one, but it only leaves me with more questions.

  1. What size should my category image be? I can change the category image, but I cannot find a single place on the internet where the recommended size is provided. Not in kb, pixels, nor anything else. I assume the ratio is 1:1, but I need to know the size. When I run an SEO program, it says many of my blog images have a high loading time (1-3 seconds per image).

  2. In the first link, it provides a size for related post images. Where do I edit the images for related posts?

  3. Are the terms “cover image” and “featured image” the same? I can only find featured image and have not seen cover image.

  4. The recommended post list image is 940x705(or 400/940). So how do I change Post List images? I can’t find any settings for it.

What are you trying to achieve:
I’m trying to update my images so that my blog will run faster. It is extremely slow and I think it is because my images are the wrong sizes.

What have you already tried:
I have read several forum articles. I have checked each blog article under Settings/SEO. I have checked my main blog settings. I have checked category settings.

Seems like there are no recommendations for this but the general guidelines are typically 1:1 ratio, WebP format for faster loading times, and 940x705 for post list.

To answer these both, Wix uses the term “featured image” as opposed to Cover image. This is the primary image associated with the blog post. It appears in the post lists, previews, etc. You can set this in the settings menu when editing the blog post.

This would just be the featured image for those specific posts.
