Question:
How can I change a site’s main language?
Product:
I am using the default Wix dashboard.
What are you trying to achieve:
What have you already tried:
I can’t manage to switch my website’s language. I accidentally set it up with English as first and Thai as second language. All text is in there already. Now I want Thai to be the primary language but I can’t switch to it.
I searched the web for a few hours now and really need help. I read somewhere that I need to duplicate the site for it, but when I duplicate it I can still not switch the language, neither in the old nor in the new one.
I don’t mind that I have to restore some texts but I don’t want to recreate the whole website from scratch.
Okay, I got it.
You need to duplicate the site, then remove the Wix Multilingual app (I wasn’t even aware that this is a separate app), then change the site’s main language and then add the app again.
I had to add the app 10 times until it was back in but now it seems to work.
Please make this easier, Wix team.
I just tried to access the website of a small Italian choir. Its a WIX website. I’m pretty sure the original is in Italian, but all i can get is an English translation. When I click the google hit that found the site, the URL is prefixed with …?lang=IT, and I CANNOT undo that. The site offers a DD with two entries, EN and IT. It ignores my attempts to click the IT. I have no idea whether this is a WIX problem, or something the site author controls, or Chrome insisting on the language - but the failure of the DD to respond reasonable suggests it is a WIX problem. I’m with User1386 above: make this easier. or at least transparent.
