Data showing in preview, but not live

Hello,

I've gone through some other posts and seen others are having this issue. In preview mode I'm able to view my data, but once I click the imagine it will also show me my description (this is how I want it). However, once I go to live, I can click on the same picture and nothing happens.

I've read through and took these steps as well:

https://support.wix.com/en/article/working-with-dataset-modes-and-collection-permissions

https://support.wix.com/en/article/about-collection-permissions

When I click on the image, I want my description to come up like this:

If you go to the site you can click on the images and see nothing happens:

Appreciate you taking the time to try to help. Thank you.

Hi, I had a similar issue then I realised that the information was complete in my sandbox but not in live database. I had to complete the info in the live database in order for it to work on the live site. you have to do that from the wix dashboard. I hope this helps.

@emmaonwe Really good catch there - Nice, and thanks for jumping in and helping

Can you tell me exactly what you mean? I’ve input my data, sync’d and seemed to have tested it through preview.

When you are testing through preview it puts the data in a “sandbox”, meaning it isn’t actually going to be seen on the live site. If you want the test data (data you enter during PREVIEW) to be visible on the live site you need to go into the database and “sync” sandbox data to live data.

@brett-haralson Ah yes, I have done this but the issue still remains.

For more info on this see the Wix Support pages here.

It doesn’t sound like there is any data in your “LIVE” database. Be 100% sure you have data IN YOUR LIVE database. Also, make sure your data bindings are set to the right database/field. This really sounds like a no-data issue.

Looking at the website itself, nothing is done through dataset, it is through a gallery with the expand popup

That is a Wix Support issue for Chris.

I’ve sync’d the sandbox to live data multiple times. You can see based on the screen shots that the two are identical.

Is there something else I am missing?

Have you set it up like this in the gallery as you are using a gallery on your page.

Chris,

You are using Grid Gallery as shown here.
https://givemeawhisky.wixsite.com/mysite-9

When you click on the image to expand in a popup it will take the info from the picture info in your media manager and not your dataset.

If you want to do this yourself with a dataset connection, then you will need to create a gallery that opens up another dynamic page or lightbox that does the same job as the gallery popup window and grabs all the info from your connected dataset.

In simple terms, you can not do it through the Wix Pro Gallery.

Ahh okay thank you. I am beginning to see it. Do I need to create a custom gallery? Any other way I can effectively display my courses to students?

@brett-haralson
Sorry for jumping in over you too

I basically followed this tutorial which said to set up gallery that way:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQ1yKv2JtSo

I like the gallery effect, but it seems I may need to make my own.

All depends on what you want to do, Wix have a similar school example in this Wix YouTube video for user form creation
Corvid by Wix | How to Create a Custom Form and Connect It to a Database

You can use repeaters with a show more option that can display your courses and let the students click on the one that interests them and read further.

You are the master. I’m just a padawan!

Thanks! I will need to explore this a bit more. Appreciate the help.

You can look at the templates pages and choose Community and then look at the Education sections and see if there is a pre-made template that you like.
