Wix sales informed me that this was the best place to post my question. Basically, I’m wondering if the data stored within the database accounts toward the allotted “storage” on the premium plans. Any clarification would be appreciated.
Hay Shotster,
At this time, Wix Code is free for use. As such, Wix Code Database is not counted as part of the Wix premium data limit. We expect fair and reasonable usage of the Wix Code Database.
What type of application / site do you have in mind? How much data involved?
Thanks, Yoav, that’s good to know. I was just asking for the sake of general knowledge - you know, in case I develop a membership-based web service that surpasses Facebook in popularity.
I am sure if you develop anything that is more popular then Facebook we will work something out.
Just for sake of clarity, does this include the images that are stored in the database?
I’m presently asking users to host images elsewhere and target them using URL’s, but if that’s not necessary, having the upload option would avoid the potential issue of broken links.
I don’t want to speak on behalf of Wix, but I suspect images uploaded to Wix are not stored in a database, but rather, are hosted on their servers and, as such, would take up space and count toward any storage capacity limits.
Yep, I assume the same, but just thought I’d get clarification.
I’m facing a similar dilemma except that my clients are uploading videos
No one in wix support is able to give me a clear answer. Don’t want to to end up suspending my website temporarily and abruptly if I reach there.
50GB (business VIP plan) with videos shouldn’t take more than a few weeks
I wrote to Wix support a few times, and finally got a response to this exact topic.
Please, note that all of the files uploaded by your visitors and yourself are counted towards the storage the Premium Plan offers.
If you are afraid that your storage will be filled out very quickly, I recommend you check out applications Get Files to Dropbox App .
