Hello, I am creating a website for my digital media agency business. And I have to create work pages where I can showcase different types of work that I did; however, they are going to be in different formats.
Some are going to be the case studies, so I will be showing stats and images, or maybe some videos or videos linked to YouTube, and on some pages I will be adding just images only.
This is the problem that I am only able to use a single format for collection pages, and not sure how to add manually if I create another page with a different layout and design.
Would really appreciate it if someone could help me with this issue or share a tutorial link that might be of help.
Hi Zishan, this usually happens when all your collection pages are connected to the same dynamic dataset and share one layout by default.
You can duplicate the existing page, disconnect it from the current dataset, and then connect it to a new one with a different design or layout.
That way, you’ll be able to display case studies, images, or videos separately without affecting the others.
Hope this helps!
You can prepare a dynamic page to showcase what ever you want on it.
But this for, you have first to prepare your COLLECTION (DATABASE), giving it the right structure.
You can place different elements onto your page…
Images
Text-Boxes
Radio-buttons
Buttons
Yes, i know what you want to say → You want to say now → 'But this still do not change the formats! → And you are right. Right now you have just one single format you are using on your dynamic page. Your Page is already dynamic using the data from your COlLECTION, but still uses just one and the same single design (format).
But now let’s imagine → you add a Multistate-Box onto your → dynamic page.
The MSB (Multi-State-Box) gives you the ability (possibility) to create different TABS (SUB-PAGES —> FORMATS), which will look all of each single MSB-page different.
MSB-PAGE-A → Will include 1x IMAGE and a TEXT-BOX
MSB-PAGE-B → Will Include a Date-Picker 3x IMAGES and → WHAT EVER YOU WANT…
MSB-PAGE-C -->…
MSB-PAGE-D -->…
MSB-PAGE-E -->…
You already understand what i want to tell you ?
This way you would generate different formats on your dynamic page, right?
And everything will be driven and controlled by your data and some code.
Let’s make some IF-ELSE-Conditions…
If ITEM-1 inside of my COLLECTION has 3 pics → What do you think which MSB-PAGE would you load?
If ITEM-2 inside of my COLLECTION has 1 pic and a DATE → What do you think which MSB-PAGE would you load?
There are even many other possibilities of how to resolve your issue.
-Using a REPEATER
-Using an iFrame (ONLY CODING SOLUTION → EXPERIENCED Wix-User)
-Using a CUSTOM-ELEMENTS → (ONLY FOR EXPERIENCED CODER)
Try searching on the forum first before posting a question of your own. Chances are, someone has encountered the exact same issue and has found a solution to it already.
That being said, there are multiple ways to do it involving code. Here’s how:
