How do I create horizontal scroll?

I wanted to create a horizontal scroll effect. Visit this website built on Webflow https://basvanstraaten.com/#services . When you scroll down to the ‘services’ section, it starts a horizontal scroll until it reaches the last item, then continues scrolling down. How can I create this on Editor X? I’ve tried working with the Overflow Scroll function but it never scrolls horizontally automatically when I reach that section on my page. Only way to scroll horizontally is to add a horizontal scroll bar, which i don’t want. I want it to automatically scroll horizontally.

Also, I am trying to access the Exercises in Editor X Academy and the links are broken. It pops-up with an 404 Error: For example: https://create.editorx.com/html/editor/web/renderer/edit/3b026d89-7fa5-4375-9247-7f66ef5ee389?metaSiteId=0bd3f51c-5079-44fc-94ee-310efa9b97a9&editorSessionId=a30ecd0a-8da6-4cbb-b2a7-4500cb08a9d8

Thanks for sharing the question and site.

Currently, we don’t have the option to hijack the vertical scroll to scroll horizontally.

We will take this to the rest of the team to consider for future releases.

Hello there @liam10 @nathan-delle

I’m struggling with the exact same too, and it is indeed very frustrating. BUT I think there IS a workaround using Velo
I sadly don’t discover how yet, nor am I any close to become a Velo professional but following this post , @stcroppe is a Velo Expert –Well Velo* Expert– who seems to know how to achieve horizontal scroll and even guided someone in the Forum to achieve a very similar gallery effect.
You may contact him via email or the Forum and try to ask him about this (I haven’t dared just yet :flushed:)

Though this wouldn’t make the WHOLE website horizontal, it’d just make a repeater slide sideways (apparently layouters nor wix pro galleries support the functions needed for the workaround)
I… I’m not pointing any fingers here, b-but everyone from the Wix Support claims there is simply no way to hijack horizontal scroll through code; but it seems an onMouseScroll() function unchaining a slide event is possible.

If you decide to contact Mr. Steve Cropper, I wish you luck in your endeavor and, if he indeed answers you back –we’ve been told he’s actually very polite n’ supportive– consider letting us know by updating this post.

P.D. I actually remember watching an example of your work on horizontal websites (and even a tutorial) on your YT channel… very good ;v

Hi guys,

@sebi-vidret , I am following up this thread : any news about this feature or a possible workaround with Velo?

I know that seeing the scroll bar at the bottom is the best ux option for the moment, but … visually it breaks my eyes .

Is it possible, at least, to hack a (bottom) scroll bar’s CSS to change its design, with Velo ?

Thanks a lot in advance.

yes Exactly. @sebi-vidret For example, if I add a Layouter and set it to display as a Slider, the only way to scroll through the slider is using the scroll bar or using a two finger swipe gesture on a laptop mouspad. To make it easier for visitors to scroll through the slider carousel, it would be great if your team could add a feature where the site visitor can drag through the slider with the mouse by clicking and dragging. To better illustrate this, visit the website https://www.wildsouls.gr/en and scroll down to the second section. You can click and drag through the products slider.

Also adding an arrow to the slider would be helpful. (Kind of how Netflix has an arrow to enable scrolling through the movies.)

Additionally, I don’t like the horizontal scroll bar enabled for the slider because the design of the scroll bar doesn’t match the design of my website. (Especially on a Windows device) It would be great if we could design a custom scroll bar for the slider that matches the site.

Lastly, a feature where the slider hijacks the scroll. So if I’m scrolling down the page and the slider comes into the viewport, whilst scrolling down, it will scroll through the slider first, then continue scrolling down the rest of the page. Hope that makes sense.

Hey @liam10

I wanted to find out more if this has been rolled out yet, and a member of the team suggested using overflow to achieve it. See this article:

Let me know if this helps!

Here’s another post related to this one that might be a perfect turnaround if you can fix the code / layout adjustment : I had asked for a Velo solution in order to create custom scroll buttons for layouters and repeaters in slider mode.

But it seems that I can’t fix the code or layout adjustment required to achieve it, and I am still waiting for a good samaritan to review it.

Thanks in advance for your participation.

I’m having the same issue even utilizing overflow conntent option

i can see this is an old post. did you ever find a workaround?

The feature is not available natively yet though you can try coding in the feature or using an iFrame as well.

Similar to above, the feature is not available natively yet though you can try coding in the feature or using an iFrame that has the code.

Everyone on this thread, there’s now a feature request for Hijacking that can be voted on.

Disappointing response!

Hi Edu.

Yes I checked this out too. But the article is not about hijacking the vertical scroll so that you scroll horizontally instead.

This article merely the ability to scroll horizontally where content is hidden by the overflow feature.
