How do I find custom elements on my web site?

Question:
How do I find where custom elements are currently on my site?

Product:
Wix Editor

What are you trying to achieve:
I got notice about custom element being sandboxed (Custom Element Sandbox | Developer Support Center | Wix.com) because it said I have a custom element on my site. I don’t know what it would be… how do I determine what it is.

What have you already tried:
Searched

Additional information:
I drag and drop… that’s about it.

Hi, webmaster72232 !!

This is likely a notification suggesting that some changes need to be made as part of security measures for custom elements. The fact that you received this notification suggests that there is a custom element placed somewhere on one of your Wix sites. However, if you own multiple sites, it’s also possible that the custom element is on a different site.

I’m not sure if there’s a specific way to locate custom elements, but custom elements are positioned as a feature available only on premium plans. If you add a custom element to a site on a free plan, a purple warning message like “Upgrade to a premium plan is required!” should appear.

So, if your site is currently on a premium plan, temporarily switching it to a free plan might make it easier to identify where the custom element is located. To give you a better idea of what custom elements are like, I’ll include a link about custom elements for your reference. :raised_hands:

Just wait until Monday Nov 25th.

Wix employees have already confirmed they will be resending the email notifications about custom elements to everyone AGAIN but with the Site information next time.

I received the Monday Nov 25th email and was still confused.
I also drag and drop on my website.
From what I can tell, Custom Elements includes the Embed Code from the Wix Editor, and can include the 3rd party apps like those that link your Social Media posts to your website.
Since I drag and drop and don’t use Embed Code, I’m guessing that I received the emails because of the 3rd party Social Media apps and there is nothing I can do about it other than hoping the app is updated?

Hi, DragAndDrop !!

Have you received the new email again? I have received it. It should contain a list of sites where custom elements are being used. Let’s check it again. There might be a chance that a blank custom element you unintentionally added is included and remains transparent. If that’s the case, you should be able to locate it using the method I mentioned earlier.

By the way, when you refer to a social media app, are you talking about the Wix App? As for whether those are included in this security update, I’m not sure. So, regarding this matter, it might be quicker and more reliable to consult with @noahlovell the community manager (Wix) of this forum. Reaching out to them would probably give you the most definite answer.

If the issue is resolved, it would be great if you could update this topic with the details, as it could help other members facing the same issue.
