What have you already tried:
Select existing event → Orders or Guests → More Actions → Select Email marketing → Next. It seems that this screen is unaware of the event that I came from, and there is no way to have a target group “Event attendees”. Is it true? Is there a way to send a custom email to event guests?
Additional information:
Yes, I am aware that there is somewhat crippled way to send an email reminder 3 days or 1 day before the event under event settings. I am trying to send an ad-hoc email, similar to marketing campaign, but tailored to people who already bought tickets.
Yes, I am aware that I can send SMS from mobile application. And if I download yet another Wix app - Spaces by Wix (I already have 3!!! this would be 4th) - then I probably be able to send something else. But I won’t be able to create what I want on my mobile device. Maybe my GenZ granddaughter can.
Summary
I see several instructions that indicate that “Event guests” would be one of the target groups in promotional email. Was it removed? Am I missing it?
Assuming you are using the Wix Events & Tickets app, this can be set up pretty easily using the automations feature. Create a new automation and select Wix Events as the trigger. Here is a quick screenshot of what that would look like:
You can select a specific event, and choose from a handful of event triggers such as when a guest RSVP’s to the event, or when the event starts. Hope this helps!
Thanks. It seems to confirm that I cannot send ad-hoc email to the guests; and I can’t send an email from my design desktop.
Imagine that the event is a book club, or cloud computing meetup. I want to send a robust email with screenshots, links, and some other things. Moreover, I expect some of the attendees will respond to me with some suggestions - and I may send 2 or 3 more emails before the event.
I am away from my desk at the moment so I can review this further in a few hours, but this could be your solution:
This is a quick way, as you can design your emails within Wix and quickly send them to guests for a certain event. There are multiple ways of achieving this but you may need to hire a developer to help set it up. I am available to assist at anytime.
I am not trying to be rude, I really appreciate you trying to help… but that’s exactly the essence of the problem. This email marketing screen that you link to, is the screen that I refer to in my original question. It doesn’t allow the target group to be event attendees!
I did research before posting the question. If this capability is not available in WIX - I can accept that, as disappointing as it is. But Google says that it is possible - maybe it was removed recently?!
The steps in that link show how you can email event attendees. You will probably still need to use an automation to add a tag to the contacts that rsvp to your event so that you can easily select those contacts when adding recipients to the email.
actually, your comment got me thinking. Wix attaches the tag when a person registers for the event / makes the order. One of the options is “tags”, and I can choose the event-related tag. For some reason, I have 15 orders, and only 13 tags. And I can’t figure out how to query who has this tag - but this kluge seems to be a big step on the way what I want to do.
Some of the things in Wix are just painfully difficult to accomplish. The consultants convinced us how much better it is compared to CiviCRM; so I guess, we are stuck with it for awhile.
I’m at my desk so I can provide a better explanation now. Using automations, you can use the wix events as the trigger. Then use “Add label to contact” as the action:
Just tested myself to make sure it works. I really hope this helps. I know you mentioned there could be some back and fourth between emails, but this should reduce the time it takes to send emails or alerts to this particular group of people each time. You can use different labels for different events as well, just set up individual automations. As always, I’m available if you need help. My site has a live chat feature that you can use to contact me at anytime, and I am happy to provide my personal contact information from there if needed.
As for the 15 orders and 13 tags, can you elaborate further? Do you mean actual sales orders? or were you still referring to events/contacts? I can help you figure out where the other 2 tags are missing if that’s the case, or look into which tags are assigned to who.
again - thanks, but it feels that you are answering a different question. I don’t need to create another label. Ordering a ticket creates a label that matches event name. I haven’t researched the mismatch between orders and labels yet. But for now the kluge would do.
Sorry. I should have realized you were only looking to do this for guests who pay for a ticket. You should be able to click on each contact associated with the orders and check there labels in their contact card to see if you can find the 2 that did not apply.
