Hello.
Recently I received a Wix announcement about a new feature: “Transparent Video”
I played around with some free samples, and found that decreasing their size is limited to about a width/height of 240 pixels. I can’t make them any smaller.
Increasing their size doesn’t seem to be a problem, but scaling down to just 240 pixels or so leaves me with Transparent Videos that are still too large.
Does anyone know a work-around for this?
Thank you.
You would be better suited asking Wix Support first to see if you are actually able to change the minimum sizes when you use the Wix Editor settings to shrink the transparent video. https://support.wix.com/en/about-wix/contacting-wix-support
The first thing I did was contact Wix Support, but they could not get it smaller than the 240 pixel width/height either.
Also, I got it to the smaller 240 pixel dimension to begin with by resizing the video - dragging the corners, etc. But that’s as far as it will drag. (The original size of the videos that drop onto the page when added are somewhat larger.) Plus, you cannot decrease the size by typing in a smaller width/height dimension… such as 50 x 50 pixels.
The Optional* link you provided regarding transparent videos does not mention anything about resizing.
I made my own transparent video to test, and it resized very small just fine. However, I would like to use some of the free ones from Wix on my site… which is why I’m trying to find out if there is a work-around to make it resize smaller? Any javascript or html that can force the size of the video box?
By the way, this is roughly the smallest I can make the Wix Transparent Video of the “Bumblebee”. I can’t believe Wix would not provide editing capabilities to make them smaller.
Hi, I had the same problem but this worked for me:
click “Tools” at the top of the page → enable “Toolbar” → click video → edit width and height info in the toolbar.
This is a fragile solution, you will need to experiment a bit. (Wix will try to keep your video box at the minimum of 240px, but you can trick her.)
For example I wanted a 160*290px vid, but the edges were cropped, not fitted. I had to increase the size by hand just a tiny bit and then decrease back. It’s good now, but I’ll never touch that video again.
Tried your “trick” several times, but the minimum size of Wix Transparent Video Box remains at 240px… which is WAY too large. I don’t want a mammoth sized bee on my website.
If there must be a minimum size, at least let it be 50px.
Does anyone know a javascript to force the size of the video box? I still haven’t been able to find one. :-/
The Corvid API Reference guide does not show anything pertaining to “size” or “re-size” under the Video menu nor under the Box menu.
This looks like something only the developers can fix. I sure wish they would!
They keep adding more videos, but no way to adjust their size below 240 pixels. It’s so frustrating.
Yet they advertise:
“Create your own professional web presence—exactly the way you want.” (Exactly? Hmmmmm…)
Yes, that’s what i wanted to show. You have not really a option to realize it.
All you can do is to make a request here… https://www.wix.com/corvid/wishlist
In the beta version of the new Wix platform called “Editor X” you CAN decrease the size of " Transparent Videos " well below 240 pixels.
In fact, they can be as small as you want. (Including “VideoBox” videos too.)
Transparent Video size editing (below 240 pixels) is ONLY available in the beta “Editor X” platform, and NOT in the original “Wix” platform. Booooooo!!!
So does that mean I would have to trash the Wix website I’ve already created and make a new “Editor X” website from scratch, just to have a small bee??
I certainly hope this is NOT the case.
So with that said, yes… as you suggested, I just made a request for this same FULL editing feature to be added to the original Wix platform for its users.
(We were here first.)
To Wix Developers:
Please have pity on us and allow us to fully edit these Wix videos below 240 pixels in the original Wix platform:
After much frustration, I just re-encoded my video into a much larger transparent frame and this has enabled me to rescale it perfectly as the resulting video is much larger than their 240 pixel minimum limit. Just got to watch for it overlapping and preventing the operation of anything important. It’s a dumb workaround, but it does work.
I don’t see how that’s a workaround. This thread is in reference to the transparent videos provided by Wix. So how do you transform a Wix video into a gif? (I think they are already gifs).
How to decrease the size of Wix Transparent Video?
