How to manage inventory of a custom CMS?

Question:
How to manage inventory of a custom CMS?

Product:
WIX Studio

What are you trying to achieve:
I made a custom cms with my products, managed to filter, add to cart, etc. The only thing that i cant find any advice on how to do is to make wix understand how many of each product I have on the cart.

I.e. I have 3 copies of one specific trading card, currently wix lets me add an infinite amount of that product to my cart.

What have you already tried:
I researched on forums and several tutorials that deal with custom cms to be able to link the spreadsheet with the cms and then with the filters, add to cart button, custom ribbons, etc, but none explain how to make it understand how much inventory I have so i dont sell more items then I actually have in stock.

Additional information:

I just need more info to put me in context.

So if I understand, you did not use the wix store to do that, you created your own store. So you have your own database, your own cart, your own sell button etccc ?

Hi there! Thanks for the quick response!

I’m used the wix store platform to build the whole website.

Just as a quick background. I own a TCG shop and I have two types of products: Sealed and Singles.

  • For Sealed products I currenty use the Wix Stores and it works just fine.
  • For Singles, I found out that a custom collection works best for me as I can Input an excel sheet with all the info and it makes SO much easier than creating a product for every single card that exist.

For this second part, I was able to create the custom dynamic page (item list and individual product page), and connect them to the AddToCart funcion (I followed several tutorials, but the one that did the trick for me was this Tutorial from The Wix Wiz).

Everything seems to work fine, apart from not having a way to limit purchases based on my actual stock of single cards.

I know that this is probably possible through coding, but I wasn’t able to find an explanation on how to do that anywhere so far.

Did you know you can import products instead of creating one by one?
