I’m having trouble with the search bar.
It shows hidden sites even though I’ve set it not to.
Hello, I want to add a search bar to my site, but when I configure it, it shows sites I don’t want users to access. Also, when I search for a keyword, it doesn’t appear in the results even though I’ve configured it correctly. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Are you using the current Site Search app? Older websites had a search bar that was added directly from the editor. That has been discontinued…If you are using the old bar, perhaps remove it and add the new search app:
If you’re using the new app already, perhaps double-check your settings.

However, it still shows sites that are hidden. It may be a bug, so I might need to contact Customer Care for assistance.

I’m guessing you mean you have a CMS collection that the search is including hidden content from? How are they set as hidden?
Hi Tania, if Customer Care can’t sort it out, a different search app is one way around it. I made one called Sifter (it has a free plan), so take this with that in mind. It only reads the pages listed in your site’s sitemap, so pages set not to show in search engines stay out of the results, and you choose which CMS collections are searchable. It also finds results when visitors make typos. If a keyword still doesn’t show, the dashboard lists the searches that found nothing, which makes the gap easy to spot.
