We have a member site and when we create a blog post, an email is automatically sent to 2,000+ people notifying them of the new post. While we did turn off the blog setting “Send email notifications to subscribers.”, apparently this has no impact on site members AND, according to Wix support, there is no option to stop sending these notifications members . Members must opt-out.
Question: is there a way for us to programmatically opt-out all current and future members from receiving these notifications?
Mario from Blog team here! Unfortunately there is no solution to turn off notifications to site members. This setting is on members and not on the site owners. Each member can opt-out to the subscriptions on the first email or by going to notification settings on Members Area.
We are working on a solution to provide owners the possibility to turn off this notifications.
I can’t express how disappointing this is. I’ve been a huge cheerleader for Wix over WordPress BUT this is where we have a problem. You have made an assumption (email all members every time a new blog post is made) and we literally have no way to stop it from happening. I don’t understand why you provide something as powerful as Corvid but even that can’t change this behavior. Even if the answer was a programmatic solution, that’s fine - not everything needs to be part of the Wix Admin UI.
Unfortunately we’re now potentially forced to go back to WP because your blog has become unusable for us.
Please consider one of the following:
Blog settings: extend the “do not email subscribers” option to members. Members are technically subscribers.
Blog settings: add a separate “do not email members” option.
Give us programmatic access to unsubscribe a member from blog notifications.
I’m sure Wix has evolved and maybe this was just overlooked as part of the evolution but you can’t hope to become a true replacement for WordPress when you make assumptions about how people will use the platform AND NOT provide us with a way to override your assumption.
We can not email members every time we post to the blog.
Thanks Shan - checked out that option before posting and didn’t see a solution. Unfortunately, members doesn’t expose the ability to opt them out of email notifications.

You might want to sign yourself up to the Wix Blog’s own Community Forum and then you will be able to ask any questions about the Wix Blog directly to them or add any requests to their own Wish List for example. https://www.wix-blog-community.com/blog
Very frustrating - I’m having to consider moving my site because I can’t control when notifications go out to my audience. Sometimes I want a blog post just for one thing or another and not sent automatically. I also want to change the blog notification to say something enticing. Automatic subject of blog notification isn’t helpful at all.
Hi Mario. You said a year ago Wix is working on a solution to provide owners the possibility to turn off notifications. This is a serious problem and its not a huge feature to build. I’m curious as to why it’s not done yet but more importantly when it will happen? Also, it should be universal. Every time someone posts to forums every site member is also notified. At least I can control blog posts but with forums, its site members spamming other site members.
Sure, In order to change the setting, please go to the Blog Manager, and locate the More Actions > Settings
In the Notifications settings, you will see now to options, one to turn on/off notifications to contact subscribers and a second to turn on/off for site members.
